I'm ready to go too. I've got both the e-book and the audio to listen to while I do all the Christmas shopping and wrapping.

it seems she's running from her ex."
I completely agree. (view spoiler)
ShoSho wrote: "Chapter 3 Well that was really stupid!"I thought it was stupid too, but she’s exhausted and it’s easy to make stupid mistakes like that when one is stressed and tired. So I’m cutting her some slack.
I've got to say that the plot was really well envisioned but not very well executed. I loved the romance and suspense elements, but neither was very well written.
Paige and Beau made an interesting couple. It seems more like a relationship of convenience rather than attraction. There was no heat between them. So, I didn't think it was (view spoiler)
Gisela wrote: "I hate the awkwardness. Beau and Paige have zero chemistry between them, haven’t they noticed?"lol apparently not!
I don't read a lot of Christian fictions, so I have a question for the ones who do. Is it a given that the couples don't have sex until they get married or engaged? To me it seemed that Beau and Paige hadn't had sex. What do you think? I like to think they didn't, because Paige is going to end up with Riley and it will be icky!
The ones I’ve read the couples don’t have sex until they’re married or engaged. So I don’t think they’ve had sex, I agree it would be icky.
I'm too lazy to type the discussion question at the end of the book. Here is a screenshot of them :D
I really, really feel your pain. I've written several reviews only to have them disappear when my computer decided it was time to reboot. So frustrating.
I almost forgot again!1- I like the aunt and the sheriff most. She was ornery and he was obviously smitten. I don't think I related to any of the characters!
2- I liked the scenes between Micah and Beau. They were touching.
3- I postpone dealing with difficult things if possible! It usually turns out fine! lol . In Riley's case I can see why he did it but I don't understand why he didn't do anything about it before Beau and Paige got together.
4- One of my favorite cousins passes right before our new year last year. I didn't do any of the things we do for new year. But talking about it helped.
5- It might take ages to built trust or it can be gained fast but a few acts. But once lost it's a really hard to build it back up.
7- I wouldn't know about the first part of the question but I can say a lot of people abuse religion to gain what they want! I probably wouldn't have married Antonio in the first place.
8- huh
9- I'd say stand up for yourself. Do want you want and if he gets violent, leave. But it really depends on the circumstances.
Eep! I forgot to post my answers. 1. Who was your favorite character? Why? Who did you most relate to? Mycharacters favorite characters were the aunt and the sheriff. They were cute, I think their romance will develop throughout the trilogy. Sadly, the author did a poor job making me care. Most of the tension in the first half of the book comes from the fact that Eden/Kate was the other woman, I wanted to see Paige befriend Kate and try to make things work with Beau.
2. What was your favorite scene in the book? Why? When Eden realizes that fear was keeping her captive. I don't read a lot of Christian fiction because most tend to be too preachy and unrealistic, they use faith as a magic wand to solve all the character's problems. I prefer them to be about people who use their faith to help them get through tough times and who work to make things better. So, I could really appreciate Eden's dad comment about faith making things simpler but not necessarily easier.
3. Riley’s way of dealing with Beau and Paige’s relationship was to join the military. Have you ever run from a problem? How did that work out?I think everyone has at one point or other. Sometimes it gave me a different perspective and helped me realize that the problem wasn't as terrible as I first thought.
4. After Beau’s mom died, the Callahans let Christmas traditions fall by the wayside. Have you ever faced painful reminders of the past? How did you deal with them? The first Christmas after my mother passed was hard, but my youngest sister was 6 and deserved to have as wonderful a Christmas as we could give her. Knowing that it was what my mom would have wanted helped.
5. It took Eden awhile to trust again after her experience with Antonio. Discuss how trust is built and lost. I think she lost her trust in her ability to read people and in making life choices. I think trust is built by taking little risks bit by bit.
6. Eden had been married to a man who controlled her every move. Discuss his methods of control and why you think Eden may have been susceptible to them. He disguised things as being for her well being and she was already used to having her father make choices for her so it was just a transition from dad to husband. Also she might have felt relief at having someone to take care of her instead of being the primary caregiver.
7. Antonio used scripture to justify his abuse. Does this happen in the church today? What would you do if you were in Eden’s marriage? I think it does, especially in the more radical sects. I don't think I would ever be in her marriage. Then again nobody marries expecting to be in an abusive relationship. But I would never tolerate abuse.
8. Discuss the role of the husband according to scripture. It's the husband's responsibility to love, care and provide for his family. I think that husband and wife are partners both equally important and responsible for creating a nurturing environment where any children they have may grow up feeling safe and loved.
9. If you discovered a friend was suffering under a controlling husband, what advice would you give? How would you help her? I hope everyone would give the same advice; "Get out!" I think the best help I could give is a safe place to be while she gets back on her feet.
10. Eden thought she’d be free at Loon Lake but discovered fear was holding her captive. Discuss a time when fear held you captive. How did you overcome it? Everyone is held back by fear at one time or another but realizing that it might be worse to not trying something is a good motivator.
ShoSho wrote: "Do you want to read the next 2 in the series as our next series reads?"???????? do you?
1. Beau was my fave character. Very steadfast and protective of those he loved.2. I loved when Micah said daddy. It was his first word in a long time.
3.Yes. I once traveled from Portland, OR to Hamilton, Ontario to leave a bad relationship. Bad decision, I found myself broke and alone. My dad sent me airfare to come back home and didn’t even say “I told you so” which he had every right to do
4. When my job took me from Seattle to Denver I missed my grown children so much that the first Christmas away from them since I had to work over the holidays, I didn’t put up any decorations or buy any presents. My husband let me “mourn”for a few months and then planned an elaborate get away to snap me out of it.
5. Trust is built in steps. Not placing all your trust in anyone or anything too early in a relationship or a situation. It’s lost when you set your expectations too high I think but when someone you completely trusted breaks that trust it can be devastating. I know, it’s happened to me and it took me a long time to trust again.
6. I think she was emotionally immature. Seemed she really lived in a fantasy that her knight in shining armor was All she needed to rescue her from an unhappy life. She looked at the surface of Antonio and didn’t bother to get to know him. She was way too young and impressionable when they married.
7. Antonio twisted God’s word to fit his evil intentions. I am very familiar with Proverbs 31 and what Antonio did was the very definition of taking God’s name in vain. When a Church uses the Bible to sow hate and divisiveness, run as fast you can from that Church.
8. The husband loves his wife as Christ loves the Church. He will die for his wife. Once he is married he will forsake all others and love his wife. He wants what’s best for their relationship. He respects her in all ways.
9. If I thought she was being harmed emotionally/physically I would immediately offer her a safe harbor with me or offer to take her somewhere she felt safe.
10. I still fear but it doesn’t hold me captive. I probably was held captive by it when I was younger but being brought up by my father, he raised me to think for myself unless I really screwed up then he would step in. We’d go over what I learned from my mistakes so my captivity by fear didn’t last too long.
ShoSho wrote: "I enjoyed reading your answers more than the book, Silvia :)"Thx ShoSho. I really enjoyed this book. A nice change of pace to the majority of the books I read in 2017. Sometimes it’s refreshing to read something with no swearing or sex.

Eden Martelli is too busy fleeing the clutches of danger to realize she’s running straight into the arms of a new love.
Speeding north through rural Maine, Eden Martelli wonders how her life came to this—on the run with her mute five-year-old son dozing fitfully in the passenger seat. When a breakdown leaves them stranded in Summer Harbor, Eden has no choice but to stay put through Christmas . . . even though they have no place to lay their heads.
Beau Callahan is a habitual problem solver—for other people anyway. He left the sheriff’s department to take over his family’s Christmas tree farm, but he’s still haunted by the loss of his parents and struggling to handle his first Christmas alone.
When Eden shows up looking for work just as Beau’s feisty aunt gets out of the hospital, Beau thinks he’s finally caught a break. Eden is competent and dedicated—if a little guarded—and a knockout to boot. But, as he soon finds out, she also comes with a boatload of secrets.
Eden has been through too much to trust her heart to another man, but Beau is impossible to resist, and the feeling seems to be mutual. As Christmas Eve approaches, Eden’s past catches up to her.
Beau will go to the ends of the earth to keep her safe. But who’s going to protect his heart from a woman who can’t seem to trust again?
