Jessica (Goldenfurpro) (goldenfurproductions) Hello! I'm currently taking a YA Literature class and one of our assignments is to interview teen readers (6th-12th grade). So, I decided to turn to Goodreads for this! I just have a few questions, YOU DON'T HAVE TO ANSWER EVERY QUESTION! If you feel uncomfortable or just don't feel like answering it, just skip it!

Questions:
Gender?
Age/Grade?
Country?
How much do you read/ how much do you like to read?
What do you like in books? Favorite genres? Books? Authors?
Themes?
What do you dislike in books? Least favorite books or authors?
Do you know anyone who reads? (friends, family, etc.)
Does anything influence what you read? (friends, awards, social media, hype, banned books, etc.)
Why do you read?

Thank you!

-At least 1 book a week (but during holidays I tend to read at least 2-3 a week)
-I love any type of book as long as it has complex (yet relatable characters), I do like a couple in most of my books because it adds more dimension to the story. My two favourite authors right now are Cassandra Clare and John Green.
-I hate it when my ships don't end up together, predictable endings, when the female character is perceived as a 'damsel in distress' and the phrase "I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding" (how can you not know you were holding your breath do you just casually stop breathing on the weekends)
-I'm the only 'reader' in my family but some of my friends at school like books too.
-The book covers! If its pretty I will buy it, but I usually just see if any book intrigues me by reading its synopsis and watching booktubers/goodreads.
-Not really apart from if someone recommends me a book personally I am more likely to read it
-I read because it makes me feel understood, because through all my anxiety, social awkwardness, (depression) books are the one thing that are always there for me and act as my safety zone where I can escape all my problems and feel free. I can ignore all my responsibilities even if only for a brief moment, because to me it feels like and eternity of living millions of lives. Book characters understand me like no one else in my life and to know that there are people out there reading the same book as me gives me a sense of comfort. To me its as if the author read my mind and placed all the thoughts I ever had into beautifully phrased sentences. Thats why I read because it makes me feel like I'm not alone.

- I try to read one book a month, but I'd prefer one book a week.
- I read pretty much anything. I don't like long series but I often find myself reading them. As for genre I like romance, fantasy, and mystery. I like books that give life to the characters. Books with realistic people, realistic problems, and unrealistic situations or abilities are the best to read in my opinion.
- I only know one other person that reads and that is one of my best friend. My dad used to read a lot but he never does anymore.
- I usually get books that are on the back of the shelf in the book store. The one everyone overlooks because it isn't popular or they don't know the author.
-I read because it brings my imagination to life. Going through the dreary motions of the day is always brightened up by a good book. Whenever I read I feel more creative and overall better.
