No I haven't read it, but my favorite book of the year is this one which is a very scary read.
by Lee Mountford
Hi, I’m Zola an aspiring author from the UK. Real name Lee but Zola is my author pseudonym (nickname from my teens). Anyway...As a struggling unpublished author, I am sure all those fellow struggling unpublished authors will know how difficult it is to get a foot in the door of agents/publishers, who fail to see potential in your bestseller - due to most probably an overcrowded market place and/or because your book isn’t quite a … masterpiece.
So what do they know!?
I have written a book called The Curse of the Pathway, which is a fantasy/adventure for any age group from 10yr +.
I would really like as many people to read it as possible, and would appreciate any feedback, constructive criticism, where you think it’s lacking or what I can improve on etc... I would also appreciate it if parents could get their kids to read it and have that perspective as well, as it’s really a children’s book which I hope adults will like too.
So the story is about a boy called Archie Taylor wakes up one morning to find his world turned upside down. After he and his friend unintentionally trigger a curse on a graveyard called the Pathway, he seeks to unravel the mystery that surrounds it. The journey he takes is fraught with danger, excitement, friendship, and a whole host of strange and unexplainable things. The story twists and turns through unexpected events that place Archie in the thick of it.
I hope in this book I have added a good mix of narrative, plot, suspense and excitement that will keep people reading till the end.
The book is available to buy on Amazon as an e-book for 0.99p UK£ and the equivalent exchange rate for US$, and I often have it available through the free book promotion when it allows. It is also available through Amazons KDP Select. The first three chapters are available to read, which will give you an indication of what to expect.
I hope that wasn't too longwinded?
Thanks Barbara
Happy reading
Zola

Seems like you are a published author, ebooks count. Anyway your story sounds really good, I will give it a read soon, since you are a member of my group. I will check and see if I have it, If not I will get it. If I like it , would you like to be a Featured author and guest speaker? Do ou ever post a giveaway here on Goodreads? I am also a writer, I am making my own epubs, either my books are too short for publication or need a lot of editing , or unfinished. I do it for the love of writing, praise and recognition iis not important o me. I am leaving it all to my son to do whatever he wants with.

Thanks for the reply Barbara. That would be great if you could read my book and give feedback too. The featured author would be great (if you liked what you read of course). The guest speaker, how does that work? I mean would I be expected to do live chat or just a question and answer type scenario, where by I respond in my own time.
To post a book on goodread, what format would that be in? i.e Word, PDF or kindle. I'm not sure how this all works? I suppose I would If it meant people being able to read it.
Me neither seeks recognition or praise, all I hope is that other people enjoy what I have written.

It is basically a question and answer here, for a week , I think is enough time since you said it was a children's book. I introduce you, the the first comment should be yours telling about your book , posting a picture, and a link to buy it, usually an author working with amazon offers the book when it is free or at a reduced price. Generally an ebook, or you can give e-pubs a lot of us have several e-readers, I use Kindle and Freda. I would also post it on twitter, sorry no instagram , mine has never worked. There is plenty of time, check out some group reads on here with authors speaking, lots of groups feature artist. It gives you exposure, I am sure we have mothers and grandmothers in this group who give kids books away as presents I know I do.

That sounds fine with the question and answer thing. I stupidly forgot to mention it is currently available for free as an e-book on Amazon until tomorrow (5th Dec), unfortunately they only allow you to do so every few months.
Thanks again for the advice

Hi Barbara! Thanks for the invite! I usually don't join discussion groups because I have a hard time concentrating and navigating around, but fairytale fantasy is of great interest to me. I hope I have something of interest to contribute from time to time and I look forward to everyone's posts. My recent YA fantasy novel, Beyond the Wicked Willow: Chronicles of a Teenage Witchslayer, is based on a variety of ancient Italian folklore and is full of fairytale-like settings. You can read reviews of it on Goodreads & see the description at the end of this comment.
It's available in eBook as well as paperback on Amazon at:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/154...
...but can also be read free on Inkitt, which can be found by doing a Google search.
Brief description - Still struggling to come to terms with his father’s death in the Iraq War, fourteen-year-old Frankie is thrust into a life or death crucible of his own.
Synopsis - FRANKIE FRETINI has had a horrible year. And, just when he thinks things are looking up, well…all heck breaks loose. It happens in home-ec class just moments after the girl of his dreams, Jenny Moran, invites him to the annual town carnival. Still dazed from the unexpected invite, Frankie accidentally plasters the face of school bully, Brick McDuddy, with a giant scoop of chocolate mousse. Embarrassed, and fuming mad, Brick plots to deliver his painful revenge at the carnival. When Frankie, and his pals, Sam, Beef, and Bookworm show up to meet Jenny, Brick and his nasty bootlickers, Harold “The Horrible” Dunson and Billy “Scat” Pile, chase them into the eerie tent of an old Gypsy fortuneteller named Mala. Trapped with nowhere to run, Frankie makes a pact with Mala not knowing that he and his pals would be swept through her crystal ball to Medieval Italy. Now, their only hope to return home rests in Frankie's hands. He must kill the evil Italian witch, Il Strega Diavolo, and rescue Mala's twin sister, Tsura. But, can Frankie find the courage to face the Strega?
I welcome reviews of my novel and would be very interested to hear all your thoughts. Looking forward to this group! : )

I'm Marco, live in Vienna, Austria. I am originally from the USA. I read almost anything except the straight romance genre. Glad to be onboard. I have written two novels, one of which is horror/paranormal. The other is straight Literary-Fiction.
Best,
Marco
