What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

A book of short stories for young adults/teenagers by an Australian author. I read it in the mid 1990s and it seemed quite new at the time.

Each story focused on a different teenager at the same school. There was a story about a girl who put on lots of heavy makeup to go to a party, hoping to kiss the boy she liked, and when they did kiss she left makeup all over his shirt and was embarrassed about it. She may have been called Maria or Marina.

Another story was about a shy boy (may have been called Tom) who was trying to become more outgoing and get girls to notice him. In one scene he took a comb to school and brushed his hair in the hallway to try and attract attention, but it didn't work.

There was also a story about a kid who was a very keen swimmer (can't remember any details) and the book may have had a swimming pool on the cover. I remember the cover being blue and yellow.

That's all I remember - any help appreciated.

According to interview: http://www.misrule.com.au/gleeson.html there's story "Maria" and she included one of her earlier stories "In the Swim" renamed as "Cass".
