Paul wrote: "I'm on the fifth day of a Kindle Scout campaign for Altered Seasons: Monsoonrise. And yes, I desperately need more nominations and you can nominate it Paul My book, One More Moon is about 12 days in. I am getting about a little more than 20% external with the rest internal. The ratio seems to be tilting more and more to the external. I guess the reason is that once the site's followers have seen the book once they probably don't look at it again. My other sense is that at first you are on the "new" list, on the first page of your category (newest seems to be listed first), and perhaps on the Hot and Trending. As time goes on you slide down and sort of fade into the background. At least that is my observation. I started with close to 700 views the first few days but am now down to less than 100. My total views are a little over 3,000 and I was on the H&T list for a little under 200 hours. Hope this helps. I will look at yours - please look at mine
One More Moon (in the Literature category)
Thank you. (That link didn't work. This one should.)When I have a nomination free, I'll nominate you.

Paul, if your traffic is coming from predominantly within Kindle Scout, that means that your independent efforts are not driving your own supporters to your book, but rather casual browsers are looking at your book, among others, as they peruse the site. Your traffic will fall once your book isn't immediately visible in the "recently added" list, as no one sees it on the front page.
Unfortunately, you'll find that Kindle Scout is not for authors who want to be discovered. Rather, it is for authors who already have a small following of readers who will vote for them in response to the author's independent appeal. I think it's safe to say that no one at Amazon is actually reading the works submitted as an agent might do, and judging them on their merits; rather, Amazon is catering to authors who already have demonstrated some small success.
I noticed Monsoonrise on the board; however I have to admit that, like many Scouts, I tend to nominate and vote for books when they're close to their closing date. (You'll see traffic skyrocket again when the books hits "Ending Soon"). But, since you're here, and I'm here, I'll go vote for it!

RianI think your assessment is correct. With 9 days left in my Kindle Scout campaign I know that the excitement was all in the first few days. That was when my book had the most visibility - and that was when my loyal followers came to take a look and (hopefully) nominate. One thing that did work well for me was that many book clubs selected my last book - and I participated in about 25 book club discussions last year (either in person or via Skype). Much of my support came from their members and FB friends. Now that the "excitement" has worn thin I know that not much else will happen until the last few days when we hit the ending soon list. I also realize that this is not a popularity contest. If a book gets selected it has to be very well written, very good, and have appeal in the right genres. Best to you! Ralph

I am just getting started with my campaign, 25 days left. I told myself I would not get stressed this time. Well, I feel the stress. The first day I received almost 500 page views, the second was 35, and on the third day 150. Zero hours in hot and trending. Here is the link to my scout pagehttps://kindlescout.amazon.com/p/M2X5...
I'm trying to get my head around it all and have bumbled into trying Kindle Scout for the first time. I've only been up 3 days and the stats are confusing as they havent updated for me in over a day.Anyway, I think it's one of those cases of plug it while you can and see where it takes you, to that end if anyone is interested my links is below.
Many thanks, let's see where this little adventure takes me :)

I got the impression from another thread that it was normal for about half of page traffic to come from inside Kindle Scout, and about half from external links. The last time I checked, 91 percent of the page views on my campaign were from inside rather than outside. Is this normal for the first few days? (I've been averaging a little over 300 page views a day. Yesterday was my best day.)
