message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

Hello! My name is Regina, and I'm fifteen going on sixteen. I absolutely love baking, but I made everybody fat so they don't want me to bake for them much anymore. Sadly. Usually I go for cheesecakes, as they're my personal favorite, but I've made pretty much everything. I want to try making a Mirror Cake next.

I'm always interested in different recipes and I love creating something that is filled with love.

The type of baking shows I watch is The Great British Baking Show, Zumbo's Just Deserts, Cupcake Wars, and Cake Wars.

message 12: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee Hello, I'm Groovy

I was invited to join this group. But apparently my inviter, Alex, must think me very young, because everyone here is so young. But just like all of you, I love baking. I'm having an affair with food. Besides writing and gardening, and watching the Space Station at night, I love cooking shows, except for The Chew. The Great British Baking Show is at the very top!

Can't wait to see some amazing recipes! Thank-you!

Hi my name is Janessa, I'm a college student from Colorado. I am working on earning my BA with a major in Theatre and a minor in English-Writing. I wish to be a playwright in the future as well as have a few novels publish. I have never baked anything, but I would like to learn. We're about to start remodeling our house soon, and getting a whole new kitchen, so not much baking or cooking for quite some time. I remember my grandmother loved to baked, and someday I want to make a family cook not just of the recipes, but of family stories. I think food and stories are great ways to keep family traditions alive.

message 17: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee There was no other thread to share this, so I'll post it here:

I just heard that The Great British Baking Show will not return to PBS for anymore seasons. Most of the cast have moved on to other projects. That was my favorite show, too:(

message 19: by Richard (new)

Richard Derus (expendablemudge) | 1 comments Good gracious. I'm old enough to be all of y'all's grandfather. I'm an old fan of baking, something I've been doing since I left my mother's nest in 1978.

Right now I'm relearning the craft since I no longer have a kitchen. My InstantPot and my crockpot are, I'm amazed to discover, excellent substitutes.

message 20: by Yodamom (new)

Yodamom If Richard is the grandfather I'm the Grandmother. I have been baking all my life and have three grown children who bake. My son has live sourdough cultures in his kitchen and bakes bread daily. I love baking, breads, pies, popovers. We have an open game night each Friday when I make pizzas for all, fresh rosemary pizza crust is my specialty.

message 23: by James (new)

James Joyce (james_patrick_joyce) | 1 comments That's weird. The person seeking my introduction has been deleted? Huh.

I'm James Patrick Joyce. I'm not in my twenties. I was a professional cook for ten years (everything from gourmet vegetarian to pub grub, including a one-day stint at Peter Oliver's Bofinger, in Toronto).

I have baked lots of breads, though not as often as I used to, since my diabetes diagnoses (carbs are bad, m'kay?).

message 24: by Emily (new)

Emily | 7 comments I noticed that too.

My name is Emily. Love to cook and plan menus. Do a lot of themed cooking challenges with family.

Bex (Beckie Bookworm) (rebeccabeckiebookworm) | 1 comments I'm Rebecca: Beckie or Bex to my friends I am from the UK Shropshire so a country girl here. I am definitely not in my Twenties but a couple of my kids are lol: the rest are teenagers. I am a Mum of five the oldest being 24 youngest 13. With four of them being boys I am always cooking as there like bottomless pits especially my three teenagers. I home school my 15 year old as he is on the spectrum so am home a lot so most of my hobbies are home-based. Adore reading, cooking (savoury rather than sweet), History, camping I also run my own book blog: big wave from my corner 👋

message 27: by Mystic Orange (new)

Mystic Orange (Rumell) (rkrespectedmember) Thank you all for joining.

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi... I'm Tiffany, from the UK - Staffordshire, so next door to Shropshire! Not in my twenties, no kids. I'm not so much for savoury cooking, but I do like to bake. My favourite is lemon meringue pie - which I almost never get to make as my husband doesn't like meringue (maybe I should rethink the marriage thing - not liking meringue has got to be grounds for divorce).

I've learned that life is easier if you make a double batch of cookie dough and freeze it in sausage shapes. Then you can have cookies whenever you want. :-)

Marine (hurricanemilou) | 1 comments Hello everyone! I'm Marine and I'm from France and from an island in the Caribbeans. I have been invited by Rumell, and this group seems really nice.

Rosenblue(promoting non-biased,honest reviews & a dislike button on GR) | 7 comments HI i'm Alois Trancy's Most loyal Servant( username) and I love Japanese and French sweets! Nice to meet you!

message 33: by Elayna (new)

Elayna (elayna_udrea) | 1 comments Hi I'm Elayna! I'm pretty new to GoodReads so if you like my profile please feel free to put in a friend request, I'll be sure to respond! I'm 14, my birthday's in April. I have a twin (who I mention a lot so sorry if that gets annoying). I'm a baking novice, I like the classics, cookies, cupcakes, cakes, brownies... home made from scratch is the BEST way to bake in my opinion. I don't bake very often, usually just when my friend comes over or when my twin feels like having sweets.
I'm from Canada (please refrain from making jokes) and I'm excited to be in this group!

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

Hello everyone -

Art3mis: maybe you'll get some inspiration for more baking here!

Marine - I see you're reading Sophie's World: I read that years ago and really enjoyed it: it's one of those books that has stuck with me. Not much baking in it, though. :-)

Alois - do you make your own sweets?

Elayna - of course baking from scratch is the best!

~Cyanide Latte~ (cyanidelatte) | 1 comments Hello! I'm not sure I ever did this, even after I received the invitation to this group! So hi all, you can call me Cyanide if you want! I'm still something of a newbie to baking, but I love and admire the craft of it (yes it is a craft and a skill, and no, you cannot convince me otherwise) and I hope to learn from everyone here how I could potentially improve and try new recipes, and share my progress!

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi, I am Janet and I live in London, Ontario. I love to cook but I am a middling to an awful baker ...

I want to learn the skills but I suck as I am too loosey-goosey in its science...when you cook you can play with ingredients but not in baking. I have had disasters that are epic - with CAKE MIX.

sigh.

hello, anyway

message 40: by Catherine (new)

Catherine Long | 1 comments Hello all, I'm Catherine Long. I am not the best baker around but do enjoy trying my hand every now and then. I actually bizarrely wrote a book on the subject though. It's called BAKED OFF! And it's a comedic British novel based on the popular TV show THE GREAT BRITISH BAKE OFF. If you like baking and reading romantic comedy type books then you might enjoy it. I look forward to hearing all of your Baking achievements and suggestions in this group.

Hads | 1 comments Hello! My name is Hadiyah, but I prefer Hads. I used to use Goodreads back in 2015 and stopped in 2017. I want to get back into it and I love baking, so if this group is still active this seems like a great place to start!
