Ash was running from the police of Republic city. She had taken a pear without paying and the whole squad of police was chasing after her. This wouldn't have happened if the White Lotus had let me go with money instead of trying to stop me from leaving.

Zander looked around the city. He ran toward the last known position that the thief was at. He looked down the road and realized he was ahead of her. In hope of stopping her advance he let out a wall of fire from his fist.

Ash was trapped. The police were pusher her toward the fire. She didn't know what else to do so, she just ran through the fire. ((Can firebenders do that?))

((If they use their bending to push the fire to the sides. Didn't you notice that they did that. If you want a good idea of what mastery of fire bending was look at the duel between Zuko and Azula.))

((Ok. She did that. Sorry, it has been a long time since I watched Avatar....))

Zander looked at Ash in a amazement he'd never seen anyone that couldn't bend fire run through it. Without thinking he shot a line of fire toward her trying to allow the metal benders to get closer.

Ash shot a line of water at the fire from a nearby fountain. She wasn't going to let the White Lotus get her back this easily. She made a giant wave crash over the metal benders. Trying to hold her ground.

Zander looked at her. "Wait are you the avatar?!" He asked confused. He could've sworn that the avatar hadn't been found yet. But he had seen her bend not just fire but water just now.

Ash ran away. The White Lotus couldn't have her anymore, She wanted to be free.

Zander ran after her ahead of everyone else. He had to know if he was wrong or not. He looked back at everyone and then looked back at the girl he was chasing. He was surprised to find out he was actually catching up to her but he kept running after her.

Ash turned her head to see that the firebender was catching up to her. She shot a line of water at him trying to slow him down. She was slowing down. To make her eyes she used more water so that she was surfing on the water.

Zander dodged the water shot and jumped into the air before he lit the palms of his feet on fire sending him flying forward. Before he knew it he was right behind her and coming in fast. He tackled her while he was still flying through the air. He tilted his feet so that they flew into the air and on top of a building. He landed and let go of her. "Listen I just want to talk." He said simply holding his hands up so she could see his palms.

Ash slapped Zander in the face. "Why are you following me! I did nothing wrong!" she shouted angrily.

Zander rubbed his face. "You stole a pear. We're Republic city police. Now can I ask if you are the avatar." He said simply. He looked at her.

"It was a pear! I was hungry and don't have money. It doesn't mean you can send your whole squad for me. And, I don't have to answer that. There are laws you know." she said as she turned around looked around trying to find a way to escape.

Zander looked at her. "Look if you answer the question I'll pay for the pear and buy you a full meal." He said simply. He held out his wallet. He knew it would cost him this weeks food money but he wanted to know if she really was the avatar.

"Why do you wanna know if I'm the avatar? What if I were? What would you do? " she asked suspiciously. Her stomach growled. She was really hungry. She hadn't eaten since yesterday.

Zander shrugged. "I know that I wouldn't arrest you since you would out rank me." He said simply enough. The avatar had helped create republic city. He knew that no matter what he did she outranked him.

"Fine. I'm the avatar. You can't tell anyone. What do you want?" she said as she looked around again. Maybe she could jump to the next building. Or, she could use water propel herself to the next building.

Zander looked at her. "Well now I have to buy you a meal." He said with a shrug. "Wait do you not know how to use fire that well?" He asked. He knew that even avatars had difficulty using some elements. "I can help you get down." He offered.

"Why would you help me? You just met me.. " she asked as she looked at him. She needed the help but, she didn't want to admit it.

Zander chuckled. "I've always admired the Avatar." He admitted. Just then five metal benders appears on the sides of the building.

They all began to have metal float above their fist. "Freeze!" The leader yelled. He was glad he was gonna be the first person to successfully arrest the avatar

Zander looked at them. "Guys chill it's the avatar." He said with a smile.

"We know." They said before they launched the metal at her.

Without thinking Zander ran toward Ash and tackled her off the building. As they began to fall he lit the palms of his feet on fire and allowed him to fly him and her away from the city. He knew if the police force was corrupt everyone in the city was.

Ash held onto Zander tightly. She did not being airborn like this. "Why did you do that? You are going to be hunted down with me now." she said as her voice quivered.

Zander landed in as forrest. "Well for one. They were breaking the law. And two I actually try to uphold the law." He said simply. He pulled off his badge and tossed it into the dirt. "Looks like I'll owe you that meal some other time. For know we need to get away from the city." He said simply. He held his hand out to her. "I'm Zander by the way. Hope you'll come to trust me." He said with a kind smile.

"We need to change clothes and change our looks. " she said as she looked around.

Zander nodded. "So we can hit up a clothes store in an earth kingdom town when we get there." He said with a smile. He took off his standard issue police shirt and tossed it in the air before he lit it on fire. "Let's head to the train station. For the next few days don't use any bending okay?" He asked. "If you need help just yell. I'll take them down." He said with a smile before he started to walk toward the nearest train station.

"Why can't I bend? I only use water." she said following him.She looked away from Zander. She couldn't believe he just burned his shirt! It was stupid. He could've gotten rid of it when they got there.

Zander looked at her. "Because it will make some people want to kidnap you." He said simply. He wore a white t-shirt under his uniform. "You may want to hide that water tribe bracelet. Some people might think your family is rich." He said honestly. He knew most kidnappings happened due to money.

"People will kidnap me because I'm a waterbender? " she asked as she moved the water tribe bracelet trying to hide it.

Zander nodded. "We're in the earth kingdom. As much as I hate to admit it waterbenders are used as forced labor around here. They earth kingdom police have been trying to stop it but the kingdom is to large to stop it all at once." He said sadly. "Same with fire benders who can bend lightning. So we need to keep a low profile." He advised.

"Fine." she said. "Do you have money? Or do we have to steal?"

Zander looked at her. "Let's hope they accept republic money. If not you distract I steal." He said simply. He wasn't above breaking the rules to survive.

"Sounds like a deal. Where will we hide after?" Ash asked.

Zander shrugged. "Wherever the guards aren't looking." He said simply.

"That isn't a good plan. " Ash frowned. Since she was stuck with this guy. Hopefully he was good at firebending. She really needed lessons.

Zander looked at her. "If you have a better plan tell me." He said simply.

Why did the she have to be the avatar? "Let's go fine clothes. " she said as she looked around the train station.

Zander nodded and walked away to buy two tickets to a little known town in the earth kingdom.

The train ride was bumpy. Zander and her didn't talk much on the train ride there. When they reached the little town in the earth kingdom she looked around. There wasn't much here. There were some stores and houses. There wasn't much more.

Zander walked into a clothing store and walked out with two sets of clothes one male and one female. "Sorry didn't know what you preferred." He said embarrassed. "Come on my family own a cabin out this way." He said leading her down a dusty path.

"Ok." Ash said as she followed him. "My name is Ash by the way. " she said. She felt like she needed to tell Zander. It wasn't fair if she didn't.

Zander smiled. "Nice to meet you Ash." He said kindly. After a short walk they arrive at a cabin and behind it was a giant Crystal lake. "Welcome to my family's cabin." He with a smile.

"It is nice." she said and looked around. When she saw the lake her eyes sparkled. "I like the lake. Can we go for a swim later?" Ash asked.

Zander nodded. "It was the reason my father saved up so much money. I'd be insulted if you didn't want to go for a swim." He said cheerfully.

"You like swimming? But, you are a firebender."

Zander looked at her. "So? I like the calm of the water." He said with a chuckle.

"You can be easily defeated though. " she said. Ash worried a lot about winning fights because she didn't want to be taken hostage.

Zander nodded. "True but out here no one knows we're here. So it should be fine." He said with a shrug.

"Can we go into the house?" Ash asked.
