Jozlin ;-} | 94 comments Who here also has a love, hate relationship with the world cup? I know I do. I love it because it's SOCCER the best sport ever. But I hate it because so many players get hurt. I mean look at Neymar and Jozy Altidore and Dempsey.

message 2: by regan (new)

regan I have to agree. But what bugs me most is when the players pretend to be hurt. They like go down, scream at the world, then 10 seconds later are up and ready to go. It just bugs me.

message 3: by Jozlin ;-} (new)

Jozlin ;-} | 94 comments Ya I have to agree with you that really bugs me to sometimes.

message 4: by regan (new)

regan I feel terrible for Neymar though. I couldn't imagine the pain he went through.

message 5: by Jozlin ;-} (new)

Jozlin ;-} | 94 comments Ya and who knows how this is going to affect his physical ability. He mi h t never have the same technique that he had before. And how will that effect him, Barcelona, and the fans if he never is back to his normal self.

message 6: by regan (new)

regan Ugh, that's scary. And I know. I fractured my ankle and I'm asking myself the same thing. I have school tryouts in August. You never think an injury is going to happen to you until it does.

message 7: by Jozlin ;-} (new)

Jozlin ;-} | 94 comments Ya well good luck. I am am reading the Pele book why soccer matters and it was talking about how his dad got an injury and he was not able to play soccer again. I hope Neymar is OK. I hope I don't get some injury that stops me from being able to play soccer. Anyway it's scary to think about

message 8: by regan (new)

regan Totally. I think I'll be ok. But there's no promises and no warning when these kind of things come. I didn't even touch the ball when it happened. Some girl with the number 17 on her shirt just pushed me. A stupid freak happening. What's the book called? It sounds good.

message 9: by Jozlin ;-} (new)

Jozlin ;-} | 94 comments Why soccer matters by Pele. It talks about the world cups he was in and pretty much his life as a soccer player. I started it today and am on pg 209/292

message 10: by regan (new)

regan Then it must be fantastic! I'll have to order it online. Was it very expensive? Or just as much as any other book?

message 11: by Jozlin ;-} (new)

Jozlin ;-} | 94 comments I am using the Library so free. :-)

message 12: by regan (new)

regan Haha, I've gotta see if mine has it then. Once I'm don't with the two school books I have to read...*sigh*

message 13: by Jozlin ;-} (new)

Jozlin ;-} | 94 comments Haha ya. Well anyway I guess the world cup has gotten in control a lot more over the years. so that's good.

message 14: by regan (new)

regan Yeah, even the referees too. I know there had been a few scandals with referees taking money and calling in favor of some teams. I haven't heard a single word of that happening this cup.

message 15: by Jozlin ;-} (new)

Jozlin ;-} | 94 comments Ya I haven't ether so that is good. Like in 1968 this referee kicked Pele our of the game and the fans went crazy, throwing bottles, and trash at the ref. So in thankful that didn't happen this year. Haha, us crazy soccer/football fans

Jozlin ;-} | 94 comments Haha my phone sent that twice. oops. :-)

message 18: by regan (new)

regan Haha! Omg, this year though, I can't remember what game it was. I think it was Germnay v. Ghana? I'm definitely not for sure on that. But a fan in a blue shirt jumped the stands and ran around on the field. The announcers just kept talking about the game and the cameras just looked at the players standing around, waiting for security to get him off the field. But it was a tad bit funny.

message 19: by Jozlin ;-} (new)

Jozlin ;-} | 94 comments OMG I remember that. it was a little hard not to laugh if you know what mean. I also think it happened twice (in different games though). S crazy soccer/football fans. Hahaha.

message 20: by Jozlin ;-} (new)

Jozlin ;-} | 94 comments *us crazy

message 21: by regan (new)

regan Haha ikr?! I'd never have the guts to do that though XD I didn't see the other happening of that though. I bet it was just as funny.

message 22: by Jozlin ;-} (new)

Jozlin ;-} | 94 comments Ha the funny thing is that I kinda wish I had the guts to run onto the world cup field of any professional soccer feild. Lol. :-D

message 23: by regan (new)

regan Same XD I know I'm a scaredy cat though. I might say to someone that I'd so do it but when the time came, I'd bite my nails and sit there, watching the game.

message 24: by Jozlin ;-} (new)

Jozlin ;-} | 94 comments Hahahahaha ya I'm the same way. I'll say I'll do something crazy like that then act like I forgot when the time came.

message 25: by regan (new)

regan Lol, if only we had the guts ^_^ I'll ride just about any roller coaster but if there's the chance I'll get into trouble, forget it.

message 26: by Jozlin ;-} (new)

Jozlin ;-} | 94 comments Yes I can go and referee a soccer game with the same aged kids and be tots fine but when it comes to trouble you can forget me.

message 27: by regan (new)

regan Haha :) how long have you been refereeing?

message 28: by Jozlin ;-} (new)

Jozlin ;-} | 94 comments Oh like 2 years now.

message 29: by regan (new)

regan Nice, I just started, so I'm only at a year. It's so funny to ref U8 XD they're all adorable

message 30: by Jozlin ;-} (new)

Jozlin ;-} | 94 comments Ya I know right. I can AR up to u12 and center up to u10. :-)

message 31: by regan (new)

regan Is it nerve racking? I'm afraid I'm gonna mess up. And then some parent will yell at me.

message 32: by Jozlin ;-} (new)

Jozlin ;-} | 94 comments Think of it this way no matter what call you make one team us not going to like it, so just be confident in your calls and the teams will trust you.

message 33: by regan (new)

regan Ok. I've just seen some games that I've played in go sour. I mean these parents were like swearing at the ref and stuff. I know I'm not the most confident of people so I was like, "Agh, am I gonna like break down crying if some kid's dad screams at me or what?!"

message 34: by Jozlin ;-} (new)

Jozlin ;-} | 94 comments You will be fine... if someone yells at me I just laugh and ignore them cus that just shows how little they know about soccer/football

message 35: by Jozlin ;-} (new)

Jozlin ;-} | 94 comments Like once a team was calling offside is there own half. Lol

message 36: by regan (new)

regan Haha, thanks :)

LOL really?!

message 37: by Jozlin ;-} (new)

Jozlin ;-} | 94 comments Ya it was so funny.
