Rita Z (msritaz13) | 6 comments Can we talk about the goosebumps you get from the letter? I read the book few years ago, but I recently saw a chance for new discussions and thought of this one because Safe Haven is the most recent one I read. I love Nicholas's books and his taken on having us live a life time with the characters through life and death is beautiful and real. maybe this can be another discussion topic?! let me know. now let's talk about the letter and if you expected it or not. peace, Rita Pearl X

Imke (x-imke-x) | 6 comments I expected the letter when I read the book, because I read the book after seeing the movie (which I never do, and which is never a good idea). I never expected it when I saw the movie for the first time though. It’s one of the reasons why I saw the movie at least ten times and why I waited a long time to read the book. But, now i’ve read the book, I know there are many things they changed and I am glad and mad about that. Glad because the movie didn’t ruin the experience of reading the book for me. Mad because it was so different. After I read it, i watched the movie and it wasn’t the same at all. I found myself yelling at the tv a couple of times telling them they were doing it all wrong. It ruined the movie experience and I don’t think I will ever get it back. But on the flip side, I gained a new favorite book. Like other books by Nicholas Sparks this is a gem worth re-reading.

Thanks for the replay. I can relate to your experience of having seen the movie first and vise versa. I remember watching the notebook and falling in love with it, but when I read the book I was completely confused. I don't know if others felt that way. maybe I will write another discussion on this one. when it comes to save heaven, I'm so glad I read the book first, because as beautiful as the movie is, it still doesn't do the book justice.
thanks,
Rita Pearl X
