Forgot to vote for dec's but this looks good and short so have put it on hold at the library. Hopefully will be getting it soon!

Hmmm not sure about this book, something about it isn’t quite gelling with me.

I'd like to read the book in Dutch, I hope I will be able to get it in time...

Hello... I am around page 50 and this is a very quick read. I am a little surprised at the contrast between Kiki being this wise beyond her years kid and the simple language this book is written in. I understand it’s a mid grade novel, but it’s a little bland so far.

Can I just ask what age you would say middle grade is?

I thought as a middle grade it was quite good and, on reflexion, not as simplistic as it at first seems.

It’s a simple way of telling a complex story but part of me feels slightly patronised by the way the story is told. But then: I am not the target audience. Certainly a quick read.

I feel bad for our main character. She doesn’t know how to process the news about her father and obviously her mother doesn’t know what to do either. It’s giving her very strange ideas.
