I'm about 50% finished right now. Adrian is my favorite character so far. I'm still conflicted about the overall story.... enjoying the unusual super powers but most of the plot is predictable. Of course my opinion may change quite a bit by the end :)
I wanted to love it but it was honestly so very boring. Nothing picked up for me until the last quarter of the book. A lot of the plot was predictable and I wished we got to explore more of the characters. I appreciated the diversity in the book but I had hoped for so much more. I don’t know if I’ll read the next one, if I do it’s just to find out an explanation for the cliffhanger at the end...
I'm also around 50% of the way through so far. I love the diversity of the characters, but Adrian is my favorite. The plot is rather predictable but I'm still enjoying it nonetheless! If I recall correctly, Cinder was also predictable so perhaps this is just a series starter sort of a thing.
I finished it a few weeks ago, and I really liked it, but then I do tend to prefer super long books. I liked Nova (a lot), and Ingrid was super cool. I only wish there were more mentions of Adrian’s glasses, because I kept forgetting he even wore them.
i just finished and, to be honest, i'm a little bit disappointed about the whole story. i expected more from meyer. i've loved her other books. it takes very long get interesting. by the time it explains everything that happened before half a book is gone.
i suppose the whole accion will come in the next book.
i really like the character of max but, unless something changes in the next book, he is just a mean to an end.
I just finished a few days ago and I really enjoyed it. The whole superheroes thing was new for me...as far as reading about them. Different and unique and I loved it.
I'm not too huge of a fan of superheroes, and I know very little about them. For those who have read it, do you think I would still be able to like and understand the novel?Thanks!
Well I'm answer to the person above me, I don't read superhero fiction or comics and I understood the book just fine! It was very enjoyable, and the characters are relatable enough that you are not overwhelmed by the differences. There are superpowers, of course, but I found them to be really fun and added an interesting aspect to the story( it is a superhero story after all) but I liked it, and would recommend you'd give it a try! It's a bit predictable like Cinder but I believe the ending does it justice.
I love Marissa Meyer's books as a general rule, but I was incredibly disappointed with Renegades. It fell flat and my standards for her books were seriously lowered. Compared to Cinder and the rest of the Lunar Chronicles this was a serious disappointment.
I’ve just started Renegades and have high expectations, though I’m no fan of super hero themes. I know currently they’re quite popular and since it’s Marissa Mayer, I decided to try it.My fav of her books is “Heartless”. Yeah, I’ve got a thing for everything concerning the Queen of Hearts and this book seriously was beautiful but really hurt me in the end ;;
@ Jessica Lucas: I haven’t read the Lunar Chronicles but I read Heartless by Marissa Meyer and I truly loved it very much. Renegades doesn’t stand behind, to my mind, though I would have to read all the volumes in this series to judge it completely.I really enjoyed Renegades, nonetheless I think, the villains could have been crueler and well...they should think about themselves as more superior. Cyanite reminded me in a kind and advising daddy, actually, and Queen Bee was like a drama-queen sister. The Detonator surprised me the most and as a villain I would give her both thumbs up.
The Renegades were interesting. I like Oscar the most and pls I want him to get Ruby! Also, Adrian is a cutie but though I like him, I honestly dislike the Sentinel. Mostly, hiding like this is cowardly. Sorry to say.
My fav character of all is Max! He’s so sweet and I feel very sorry for him! Tbh, I’d just like to hug him and keep him company forever. His ability is interesting and I hope the Renegades can help him, or maybe he finds a way to control it on his own.
I’ve been most disappointed in the end! Seriously, I didn’t get why Nova suddenly returned to the cathedral, sat down at exactly this spot and oh surprise surprise, that discovery! //rolls her eyes
I bought the whole series bc of booktok and when I read it I was…disappointed? It got boring for me and I couldn’t push through the other two books so I was sad abt that :/
