Allison (rainy-day-reads) Our final theme for the year is Winter. This can include anything that you associate with winter, including weather, holidays, family, sports, or even just the time of year that winter arrives in your corner of the world... what is winter to you?

I just finished my first book on this theme last night, A Christmas Blizzard by Garrison Keillor, set in North Dakota. It is an unusual take on A Christmas
Carol.

LindaH | 153 comments This is easy. My husband and traditionally listen to A Christmas Carol on the night before Christmas. This year it will be The Audible version, narrated by Patrick Stewart. Our tradition took us through the old black and white films and different audible readers, but it’s Stewart’s wonderful reading we look forward to most.”They are Mankind’s children. The boy is Ignorance. The girl is Want. Beware them both. But most of all beware the boy.”

Lovely! I I had Patrick Stewart's version on cassette and listened to it for many years on my drive to spend the holidays with family. Just a wonderful, wonderful reading. :)

Linda (lindy-lou) | 2 comments I have Tim Curry's version, a years' ago gift from audible and I enjoy it every December. I'll love this treat this ear, too. Enjoy yourselves!

I just finished this sweet, satisfying story as an audio book. How I would love to spend Christmas in Paris with someone I love...

Allison (rainy-day-reads) I'm reading Smoke and Mirrors by Elly Griffiths. It's a murder mystery set in 1950s Brighton, UK, and also in winter. Lots of snow and wet boots so far.
