Catching up on Classics (and lots more!) discussion

After some pondering, I’ve decided to go with an immigrant theme for this challenge. The plan is to read books with characters or narratives that explore the lives and experiences of different immigrant groups and settlers in the U.S. (leaving out the forced migration of African slaves since I did African American authors for this challenge last year). Here is my list.

I've only read a couple from your list but you have several I've been meaning to read for quite a while. I bought Namesake a while back just because several people in this group seem to like her work.
