As it looks I'm going to reach my goal for 2017 and likely even surpass it, and considering I did spend the first 5 months struggling through a book I didn't particularly like (and have since then decided never to waste my time that way again...), I'm upping the stakes by 50%. Averaging 1,5 book a month should be perfectly doable, especially as I've decided not to stress out in daily traffic anymore and have started using public transport again for going to work.

Good idea! I hadn't come to a 2018 number until I came across your post. But now it's 18 in '18 for me.
Struggling through a book you're not enjoying can really drain the enjoyment out of reading. I had a similar struggle earlier in the year and even though I did manage to push through, it just wasn't worth the time I spent on it. Sometimes my stubbornness gets the best of me! But I hope to be better at accepting that not every book will be for me and that it's okay to just move on :)Best of luck achieving your goal! :)
good luck,Kim! I hope that 2018 is an amazing year for you and that 18 is a lucky number for you this year.

Same here!
Congratulations on finishing your first two books keep up the great work and of course happy reading! Did you like The Raven Boys?
Thanks Blagica! I did like The Raven Boys. I thought the characters were really well written and I enjoyed their interactions. Two more books have come and gone:
- The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. (review to come later)
- Closet Full of Bones by A.J. Aalto. (review to come later)
A book is a dream that you hold in your hand. I hope that April brings you many more five star reads. Do you have a stand out book so far this year?
“Reading brings us unknown friends” While the warm weather is coming I hope you make some new friends in May! You are doing great keep it up!
Long overdue update: - The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
- Somebody Tell Aunt Tillie She's Dead by Christiana Miller
- The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater
- Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater
- The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater
- Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman
- White is the Coldest Colour by John Nicholl
