Training Center
Although the allure of wasting her time around on District One's level was quite tempting, she knew that the best way to get far in these games were to mingle and observe. Learning about the other tributes and their habits and strengths would prove efficient for it was vital information she needed. Know thy enemy. It was the only reason she decided to wake up early on the first day of training. She needed to search her competition and maybe give in a couple of good practices here and there. Perhaps she would find some worthy opponent who instead of some adversary could become a useful ally. With a lazy stroll, Malia approached the training center doors, pushing them open in an arc. No one was there. Well, her plan had a minor setback. She would only have to wait for more tributes to enter. And patience was a virtue she never learned to accomplish.
Kai had been sitting in the lobby of the large complex of tribute apartments for some time now, waiting for a tribute to walk towards the center. She had woken early, and when she woke, there was no falling back asleep. The elevator doors opened, and a girl with dark brown hair stepped out, walking into the empty center. It was worth a shot, especially since it was now the normal waking hours for most tributes, and they would likely be coming to the center soon. Kai slipped the rubber band off her wrist, quickly tying her blond hair in a high ponytail before slipping through the center doors in pursuit of the female tribute who had walked in only moments before.
The center was odd when it was nearly empty, the near silence giving the room a different feel than it had when it was full of tributes, talking and practicing. Then, there was the constant thuds of the weapons hitting the dummies, which Kai felt she needed at the moment. With a wave and a smile towards the only other tribute in the training center, Kai walked over to the spear throwing station, ready to begin warming up.

Ronnie frowned as she walked into the training center. Turned out, she was quite early today. She scanned the training center and decided to go to the climbing section. She looked up, stretching a little bit and started climbing.
Ryland stormed into the training centre, furious that he had not been the first to arrive himself. Momentarily stopping at the doors to scan the room, he allowed the corner of his mouth twitch upwards into a smile upon seeing only Career tributes were present. If he was going to form any sort of alliance, it would be with these people. But he wasn't going to be desperate.
Ryland tilted his head to both sides, causing a loud crack sound to echo through the room. He proceeded to march towards the spear throwing station, as there were no tridents available and they came a close second, only realising when he reached it that another tribute was there. Giving no sign he was aware of her presence, Ryland picked up a spear, weighing it up. It was heavier than the ones at home, which only made him smile again. In a sudden fluid motion, he threw the spear hard towards a dummy, piercing it straight in the centre of it's chest. Yes, he liked these spears.

((You wanna RP? Both our characters are from same district thou))
((Sure why don't you join me at the spears?))
((Alrighty))
From the top, Ronnie spotted her district patner who just arrived at the training center. Ronnie decided to climb down and walked to the spears station. Sure she barely knew any tribute but at least he was the closest to be called familiar face.
"Maddox." she called with a high pitched tone that sounded more like a question than a statement, but her eyes didn't met his. Ronnie pulled a spear lightly from the table but she dropped it carelessly. "Spears, huh? Obviously." she finally turned her head to him. "So, I guess we're early, yeah?"

Ryland was startled by someone calling his surname but didn't show it. Instead he turned slowly with narrowed eyes to face the voice who had called him, his tension released when recognising his District partner. He stood for a moment with his next spear in his hand poised to be thrown, staring the girl down and digesting what she had said.
"I'd say we were on time, actually. Scorsone?" He deliberately questioned her last name purely as she had done the same to him: if he meant little to her he was going to prove she meant even less. Whether or not it was true depended entirely on how she was playing this - nobody here could be trusted.

"You think?" she stretched her fingers above her head then moved them behind her head. "By the way, Maddox, this is the first time we actually talk to each other since the reaping day, yeah?" she told him. "Good thing you wanna talk to me now, I thought you hate me or something." she laughed monotonously, with low sardonic tone.
"When you're preparing to fight to the death it's hard to make friends," Ryland replied in an equally sardonic tone, throwing his spear at the same dummy as before, this time planting it firmly in it's head. Feeling rather pleased with himself, he turned back to Ronnie with a new smug grin plastered across his face. "Making an alliance, on the other hand, is a completely different matter."
"Well spotted." she crooked a smile. "I am so not prepared to kill or to be killed." she said with eyes widened and plastic voice. "I'd prefer to die by natural cause, thou. Or explosion. That seems like a cool way to die." she shrugged.
Ryland was midway to picking up his next spear when he froze. Turning only his head, he looked at Ronnie with a bemused look on his face. Having been raised with the kill or be killed philosophy he found her statement to be strange at the least.
"If you're looking for an explosion I recommend leaving the platform before the countdown finishes," he said coolly, trying not to show the confusion evident in his expression. He glanced around the room at the other two tributes, wondering whether they shared the same views as Ronnie.

"Well, that will be a mood killer." she chuckled. "I want to die cool, not to die as an idiot." She said as she scanned the spear with her hand. "This is one wicked killing object." she mumbled.
Ryland finally broke from his paralysis of shock upon reaching the topic of killing objects. He proceeded to grab and throw another spear, again hitting it in the chest a couple of inches from the first.
"They get the job done all right," he said bluntly not wanting to give too much away about his strengths or weaknesses this early on.

"And suprisingly light--" Ronnie half-threw the spear to the air but her words trailed off when she grabbed the next spear. "--ah, no, this one is a little different. Heavier." she looked at the second darker spear on her other hand. "Gosh, I should really pick something to use for killing." she sighed casually.
Ryland stood by the spear rack with his arms folded, his expression blank apart from the stony stare he was giving Ronnie. He was unsure how he felt about her, so for now he was going to remain wary. He was sticking to his original plan of proving himself to the others, making everyone want him as an ally, or fear him as an enemy.
"If only it were that easy, Scorsone," he chuckled coldly, speaking slowly and sarcastically as if she was beneath him. Which, in Ryland's eyes, she was. "In the arena you get what you can and make use of it. You can't afford to be picky when everyone's out to kill you."

"I can be picky." she blinked few times. Ronnie twirled a lighter spear with one hand and she continued. "If I saw someone grab the weapon I want, I just gotta throw a rock at that person's head, or slam it to a wall or something, yeah?" she chuckled again. "Although I don't want to do that too much, the killing part."
Ryland rolled his eyes and let a low quiet groan escape his lips. He watched carefully as she spun the spear, waiting for Ronnie to throw it to asses whether she truly was a threat or a potential ally.
"Isn't that what we've trained our whole lives for? To kill, to fight," growing impatient, Ryland grabbed the spinning spear from Ronnie's hands and threw it hard into the dummy which already had three other spears lodged in. "It's called a Bloodbath for a reason, Scorsone. Instead of fighting for a weapon you should be fighting for your life."

"I'm not exactly like you, Maddox. I don't have adult to teach me how to kick someone's arse anymore." she mumbled, keeping herself busy with the spears. "And for me, even if it is for weapon or life, fighting is fighting," She stared at him with a crooked smile curled on her lips. "No one wins, just survive."
"I have to disagree with you there," Ryland said coldly, his eyes narrowed and fixed on Ronnie. While small talk was never his forte he felt it was necessary here purely because they were being watched. "I don't just plan on surviving, I plan on winning. That's why there are Victors." Ryland had no idea why he was defending the Games - they were brutal and effectively the Capitol's way of murdering innocents. But perhaps if he hadn't wasted his life training for them he wouldn't be so defensive.
Ronnie snorted, and she wrapped her arms in front of her chest. "No way, really?" she grinned. "Well, in that case, do me a small favor, make a good eulogy for me on your victory tour." she told him. Ronnie stared at him for a quite bit of time before she continued, "Stick with me. I can help you win." she finally said.
Ryland was ready to counter her comment about the eulogy, but was slightly taken aback by her next statement. His surprise was well concealed, having managed to snort and raise an eyebrow, giving an amused impression.
"Why would you help me win when you want to survive as much as anyone else?" He had secretly hoped for an alliance with somebody at least, but the way Ronnie worded her request made Ryland suspicious.

"I don't want to win." she said coldly. Then her wittiness took over again, "I mean, then I have to make like 23 eulogies. That sounds bloody exhausting." she moaned. "You're from my district, who else should I help?"
Ryland continued his intense blank stare at Ronnie, trying to figure her out. Every instinct was telling him this was part of her game plan, but a small part told him she would be a valuable ally regardless. Trust is definitely something he can't afford to have in the arena.
"You don't want to get out of here alive then?" Is all he could manage to comprehend from what she was saying.
"You don't want to get out of here alive then?" Is all he could manage to comprehend from what she was saying.
"Depends on what you mean by 'here'. Training center or the Arena? Because I really want to get out safe and sound from this place. Our escort said something about chocolate fondue and juicu fruits for tonight. I don't want to miss that." she laughed. "Okay, I'll be serious." she covered her mouth to prevented her from laughing again. Ronnie took a deep breath and continued slowly. "Ah… I just want this thing to be over one way or another. That's all I'm gonna say now."
Ryland forced himself to laugh along with Ronnie, but in reality he was just being polite. He took the Games seriously, else his whole life would have been a waste. Hesitating for a moment, Ryland offered his hand and a warm smile towards Ronnie.
"That's all I need to know. So long as you don't stab me in the back," he chuckled quietly. Never before had he thought that that saying could be taken literally. "I wouldn't mind having you as an ally."

"I don't do backstabbing." she shook her head. "I was told to always look at my enemy's eyes when I hit them. Which I can't really do if I am behind them." she told him. "Well, just a stupid Scorsone's dignity, thou. We'll keep it to ruins."
"You were told wisely. Should I have to kill you I'll try to remember that," Ryland replied sardonically. So Ronnie claims to be trustworthy, but whether or not she is remains to be seen in the arena. Ryland picked up and threw another spear, this time making a direct hit in the dummy's heart. "But don't worry about me betraying you either. You're safe until our alliance is all that remains."
"Well, even so, keep your weapon away from my face, yeah?" She pointed at her own face. "This is asset, I don't want to ruin it." She said, smirking. "Enough with me, what about yourself?" she asked. "Anything I should know?"
Ryland picked up another spear and began weighing it by passing it form hand to hand. Even as Ronnie addressed him, he didn't look up. He merely pouted and shook his head in reply.
"As long as I have a weapon in my hands I'm happy. I'm planning on breaking the record for most kills in a Hunger Games," he explained with a new joyful tone. Okay, so maybe that wasn't 100% true but he certainly wasn't going to let his training go to waste.

Kai was aware of everything in all four corners of the room. The two new tributes that were talking to each other included. District partners perhaps. Regardless, she needed to warm up her mind and her body with some weapon training. She lifted a spear, tossing it in her hand a bit before hurling it straight into the dummy's chest. She lifted another spear, and this time threw it straight at the head. It sank into the forehead of the dummy with a satisfying thunk. She smiled, turning to watch the other tribute throw his spears, listening in to their conversation as well.
Ronnie nodded. "Got it. You want to break the record, then I won't kill anyone you claim as your target." she said. "Anything else?"
Kai couldn't help but interrupt. "Breaking the record? You must think you're pretty good to think you're going to do that." She leaned against a nearby pole, her arms crossed over her chest. She tilted her head to the side, raising an eyebrow in question. She didn't believe that this tribute, who was obviously from a career district. So he was good with spears, but anything else? She wanted to know, she she would find out.
Ronnie cocked her head and smiled sardonically, "Something's bothering you, Le'Gradein?" She asked with fake polite tone.
Ryland was opening his mouth to speak, a cocky and arrogant reply already in his head, only to be interrupted by another tribute. Snapping his mouth shut, he crossed his arms and mirrored this girl's own expression of having an eyebrow raised and looking generally amused. He said nothing, allowing Ronnie to scope her out for him.
Kai smirked. "Perhaps. But you certainly wouldn't be the first one I told. None of you would be," she thought to add the last bit, proving she had no alliances with anyone prior to the center. "What about you Scorsone?" Kai asked with the same element of mock politeness as Veronica had. She stayed where she was, a few feet away from the two tributes from district 4.
"Well, my personal motto is 'jump into someone else's bussiness like there is no tomorrow', so it clearly bothers me if I haven't rub my greatness in each one of tribute's face." she smiled innocently.
Kai smirked and suppressed a tiny laugh. "Well if you wanted me to leave you could have just said so Veronica." She waited for the tributes answer to decide whether to stay or leave.
"Oh, no. Please continue, I don't want to stand between you and Maddox here." she glanced at Ryland. "Sure you are more interested on him than me."
She waved her hand at Veronica. "Oh no. I'm not interested in your friend here. I'd like to talk to him, but I can do that later. My apologies for interrupting your quality conversation." With that, she uncrossed her arms and walked over to learn about edible plants, even though Kai already knew most of them. It was just something to do until more tributes arrived.
Ryland sneered as Ronnie and Kai conversed, equally impressed by both girls's attitudes but at the same time he was assessing both of them. They could control their tempers, but trustworthy? Neither of them were in his eyes.
"Hey, Two!" he called as Kai began to leave. His arms had uncrossed and were grasping onto another spear, a side grin planted on his face as if to show he was impressed with her. Or at least inviting her to return. "You've got a good throw."

Kai turned back to the tributes from 4, a mischievous grin on her face. "That's not even my best weapon Four. But you're not so bad yourself." She then left the plants, for she knew them all, and ran over to the climbing wall, scaling it quickly and with ease, she watched the tributes who were in the center, eagerly awaiting the people who had yet to come. Scanning the center was dissapointing. There were only four people in here, and she had already talked to two of them. They were all Careers, so it would have been easy to make a pack, although she was wary of Veronica. Shaking her head, she continued to watch the tributes in the center.
Ryland watched the girl as she scaled the wall, a small smile forming but fought back by Ryland. He nudged Ronnie with his arm, using the spear to lean on but all the while keeping his eyes on the District Two tribute.
"What do you think?" he muttered, implying he was interested in having her as an ally. Sure she had attitude and could, for all he knew, be all talk, but she seemed ruthless. Someone he would want to be working with in the Bloodbath. Someone not too distant from himself.

She had been watching the other few tributes who had entered the training center soon after her and was adamant to say that she was not impressed. Yes, they were Careers too, but she wasn't going to express her interest as easily as the others did. It seemed that there were really only two places she could go at the moment. Either, she could go to the climbing wall where District Two was scaling it, or she could go to the spears station where District Four was dominating it. She hated heights, so she ruled out the climbing wall, but she did love spears, so perhaps she would give a visit. With one last panoramic view of the training center, she traveled across the floor to pick up her own weapon.
"I won't hold my ego, you know." she said to him, but her eyes were on Kai. She took the last glance before she walked to the other side of the table and stood with her back against Kai's direction. "But nah, who does that anyway?" she shrugged. Ronnie walked closer to Ryland and said quitely to him, "Better keep her closer than to make her as opponent, thou. But watch your neck from now." she winked teasingly.
Ryland nodded in agreement to Ronnie. Unsurprisingly, he didn't want to make an enemy of any Career, especially if he wanted an effective hunting alliance. While Kai may not have been his first choice, she was also all he seemed to have besides Ronnie.
"I shouldn't have to. You're my ally, that's your job," he returned her teasing wink before proceeding to throw the spear with great force, knocking a few of the weaker-thrown spears out of position within the dummy. "You watch my back and I'll have yours."

"Yeah, I know." she said. "Just don't let anyone slipped into your defense, obviously." Ronnie grabbed one spear and threw it to a dummy. It hit the center of its head and the force was hard enough to make the dummy fell straight to the back. She cocked her head and grinned mockingly, "Huh, beginner's luck." she mumbled.
Ryland rolled his eyes at both Ronnie's comment and her throw. It took all he had to keep himself from sharing his tips for throwing, regardless of their alliance. If he wanted to win he had to keep his tactics to himself.
"Beginner's luck," he repeated quietly, looking around the room he noticed another tribute. One, he thought. "Hey Scorsone, see her over there?" he pointed the girl out with a curt nod of his head, "Why don't you go make friends while I try to reason with our buddy in Two?"

Ronnie stared at him blankly. "In case you don't know, Maddox, I am horrible at making friends. Either I'm gonna scare them, or I will put myself on the top of their to-kill-list." she told him.
She looked at the girl Ryland pointed and she twitched her lips annoyedly. "I'll see what I can do, but don't expect too much. I think I already pissed Two," she glanced at Kai. "Who knows what's going to happen with that one."
