This challenge will run from 1/1/18-12/31/18 and will work in tandem with any other challenge or anything you're reading. You claim points if you own the book in print, on ebook, or on audio prior to 12/31/17, and you read them in 2018. Make sure you count the number of owned books you have so you know if you get that big, fat, juicy bonus at the end of the year.

At the end of the year everyone will give us the total number of points they earned as well as the points divided by the number of books. Reading a majority of owned books will result in a high average number of points.

Points Spread:
Length of Ownership (best guess)
1 year - 10 points
3 years - 50 points
5 years - 75 points
10 years - 150 points

300 pages/10 hours - 15 points
500 pages/17 hours - 75 points
750 pages/25 hours - 150 points
1000 pages/33 hours - 300 points

0-10 - 25 points
11-30 - 50 points
31-50 - 75 points
51-75 - 100 points
76-100 - 150 points
100+ - 200 points

Any subsequent book in a series - 10 points

Forced on you by a friend - 20 points

A book that any group you're a member of reads as a monthly selection - 25 points
Embarrassing cover - 20 points (30 if you read some of it in public without hiding the cover)
Won/Nominated for any kind of award - 10 points
An author you've never read - 10 points
A buddy read - 5 points (20 if you both/all own it)
A 2018 release, but pre-ordered in 2017 - 5 points
Turned into a movie - 10 points
A 2017 Holiday gift - 10 points
A self-pub - 5 points
Oops! Bought it twice - 25 points
Read at least one book in all three formats: print, ebook, audio - 25 points
A genre/subgenre you usually avoid - 15 points

Perfect as I'm planning on trying to read a lot of pre-owned books this year :D

How did I not see this before!?! It actually would pair nicely with my series challenge, except I have no idea how long I've had most of my books...My answer would be a long ass time! LOL Plus I'd have one or two more questions...

Anyway, it looks great! I hope your reading mojo returns and I can cheer you on as you complete this challenge.

I say, go to one extreme to the other:

(a) A tried and true, absolutely love it every time you pick it up, story.

or

(b) Something so out of your wheelhouse and experimental that you think you've entered the Twilight Zone (but hopefully in an enjoyable way).

So, I've read three books: All Re-reads.

The same book TWICE and one other. O_O

I read Easy Street by Rita Gray five times yesterday. :P

I've read 23 books for my Buried Alive challenge: 1350 points and something like 58.69565217 other points that I do not know what it means. The spreadsheet does something weird.

I've read 28 books for the Bingo challenge!

Ive got 85 of the individual points and 20 of the full points.

I;ve gotten 4 of the bingos and will finish a frame. One day, lol.

What I want to know is can I adjust some of these genres?

I read mostly F/SF and Romance. Can I put in some sub-genres?

Like:
Urban Fantasy
Paranormal Romance
BDSM
Etc?

If you've got substitutions left, you can. Just type over the category you don't like and Dazrin's magic will put the old category into the "Replaced Categories" section. Apparanetly we get 8 substitutions so use them wisely. It's nice because when you read one of your substitutions you can remember what they were and put them back. I've done that a couple of times to save a substitution.

I just wish I had thirteen more substitutions. Or that my library would fill some of my book requests. :P

When I was just in school and/or working only part time, I could do that in 2-3 days. I used to read from morning til night. Now? Busy or slumped most of the time. :(

I max out around 300 pages in a day. I just don' thave the attention span for more than that. I do have the attention span to read a bit every day, but morning until night. No. I'd rather be asleep.

I've read 2+ 300+ page books in a single day before. I've had times when I'm so engrossed I'll not stop to eat...and I'll hold off long as possible to go to the bathroom.

I got through 1 and 1/2 chapt yesterday. Finished up the other 1/2 chapter today and started on a new chapter.

I'm trying to finish up chapter 8 - then I still have chapts 9-13 plus the quizzes, midterm and finals.

AND I really need to be DONE by FRIDAY.

Nicely done. I can't seem to choose books that give me bingo lines :) I'm not far behind you in points but have a lower bingo score (45/300).

The one I finished was the Items. It and ABC are pretty easy in comparison to the rest of them.

The genre one is kicking my butt and the MegaMix is hard, too. The cover one...IDK, I've gotten close to my cover end because I read so much Romance and SFF.
