Holy cow! Mrs. Danvers! So shady! So Creepy! So vicious!

One of the most intense characters I have ever seen in a book!

Over in the review thread, Michelle mentioned the unnamed narrator. I thought she would remain unnamed as well, but I swear in the middle of the big party scene she gets announced as Caroline (I think it was Caroline - something like that - I am listening so it is much more difficult to refer back to it). Am I remembering this correctly?

I thought she remained unnamed the whole time. Did I somehow miss that?! (I don’t really remember right now.)

I thought she would to and my wife has read it a couple of times and thought she was not named. After I finish, I am going to do some research and check.

Okay, I did research because I was pretty certain she remained unnamed. I didn't remember any character of great significance named Caroline in the story, either, so I had to figure who she was when you brought her up, Matthew. It turns out she's Maxim's great-great-aunt, who the protagonist dressed up as, so it made sense she was introduced as Caroline. I hope that clear things up!

All those adjectives about Mrs. Danvers - agreed! She's like one of those characters that just sends a chill around the room whenever she enters.
