Chapter 18: (view spoiler)[ I didn't think I would find sympathy for Fidaleas / Marcus' plight, but I guess knowing him as his persona Marcus before the reveal, has made that easier. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 22: (view spoiler)[ I don't get why Gaius wasn't able to use his fury to heal his feet, yes, his explanation made sense at the beginning, but then Bernard used his fury to bury the guy, so why not healing? (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 26: (view spoiler)[ The fury crafted water ride to the enemy ship, didn't work for me, not only is there the whole diversion for a page and a half as Isana's thoughts wander off in a tangent, when she has to conceal not only herself, but also four others from the Leviathen and the enemy ship, but the whole breathing and talking while at the hull of the other ship. This required a whole different suspension of belief, that I wasn't able to attribute to the world building. For me this was suddenly a convenient device plucked from nowhere to help the plot along. Finished - (view spoiler)[ this was my least favourite of the series so far. I don't like the pattern that these books are falling into with the dual storylines, where one storyline seems to be almost a filler. (Remember Bernard and Amara fighting the Vord). A lot of time was taken up with the walk through the forest,then the fight with the beast, then the swamp then ... yeah boring I guess the practical part of me kept thinking how did they manage to take six weeks or something to do this when they had to carry everything themselves, with all the attention to detail, there was very little mention of food stores etc. At the very beginning of the trek why didn't they have horses at the very least? Even at the end, I still don't really get why Gauis didn't heal his feet right at the beginning, I mean does everyone in the kingdom know every time that he is using his Fury when he is in his castle? It seems a weak argument to me.

Tavi - Does anyone else think that he "cheated" in the duel? I guess it was kill or be killed, but I would have liked an obvious sword fighting manoeuvre finish. It felt underhanded.

I did like the whole Marcus / Fidaleas persona and am curious as to the outcome. (hide spoiler)]

Not much to say, but these books are still great fun... no dull moments...

Chapter 21 already... about 35%

I expected more action in this thread... previous reads were pretty active... guess everybody is slumpin' with the competition over with... I very much plan to arrive to the next BR sooner... every time I read one of these books, I can't wait for the next one... at least after the previous book...

I never did come back and talk as I was reading... this book went by so fast, even if I agree with Loriidae about the secondary storylines... I enjoy the Tavi storylines too much to complain, really...

You were distracted by the Fantasy tendency to make up weird names... Katniss Everdeen, etc...

I am so late with this, but I started. Up to Ch 5 and I still love Tavi.. He is such a good guy¡!

I finished some time ago and I liked it, but honestly not as much as the last book... Bunch happens in the next book... if #6 wasn't scheduled so soon, and I wasn't so overbooked, I'd jump ahead and read it early...
