I've always been more interested in the number of pages I read then the number of books. And after a couple of years of keeping track of both, I knew how many pages I could read. So this year I set myself a goal to read approximately the same amount of pages, but I also set myself a goal to have an average pages per book of 500.
This last I did because I thought I loved reading big books, and I do. But I also discovered that I also really wanted to read the not so big books, so I'm actually struggling to keep my average at 500. And this actually caused my number of pages read to drop (my brain: I really really want to read that! yeah, but that's "only" 389 pages and my average is 493, so I really should read that to up my average, but I don't wanna).
Not sure yet what I'm going to do next year. I think I will still set a page goal, but not sure about the average. I do wish Goodreads would adjust the reading challenge to allow for a page count next year.
