Okay, wow... The whole Kathy and Marcus thing, that shocked me. It's good and sad at the same time. They need to talk it out and I REALLY hope we get to see that first hand.
I love that we are getting a heartbreaking insight into Marcus' life and seeing more of him and Kathy. When they were first introduced as the Octopus I thought they would be annoying. But their relationship is actually much more complex. I hope they both find happiness.
Selfish mother! She really is VILE! She isn't taking her medication because she doesn't like doctors and doesn't think it will help her. Like really. She is a lawyer for goodness sake! She has two children that should need her and she is being so selfish! Especially considering Ethan has warned her she could die... Is she for real?!
Toward the end of this section we see why the Mum doesn't like Doctors. And, yeah, okay she has a point. She was told by Doctors that because Ethan hadn't started talking by the age of 4, he never will and that is so wrong and obnoxious and I cannot believe we may still have Doctors like that today. (I don't think we do but who knows... IF we do the f*** me). BUT then she goes on to say to Rain that she 'never accepted anything' with regards to Ethan's diagnosis and the fact that he is autistic. And that is also wrong. She is in serious denial... how can she not believe her son has autism? Because he does; it's a fact. Just because he is getting better, does not mean he is being 'cured'. Autism isn't something that is cured and I am sorry but she is just mad!
I am also really enjoying seeing Rain grow. She is starting to realize how wrong she was with thinking that she had to sculpt him into being like everyone else. She is seeing now that she doesn't have to teach him everything in life and she is now proud of him! WOOW!
And then their Dad! I honestly didn't really like him much more than the Mum up until this point. We obviously don't see much of him, we just know he is a cheater which is so wrong. But what he says to Rain is so true! That their Mum is an adult who needs to stop blaming people.
We see the real Dad in this chapter and I actually end up feeling sorry for him which is emphasized by the dislike I am feeling for their Mum right now. Their Mum really tried hard to turn her children agains him which is why Rain hated him up until now, as did I (reading from the POV of Rain) .
I 100% agree that he SHOULD NOT have cheated. That was wrong. BUT they weren't happy together. If their marriage was failing, they BOTH should have done the grown up thing and ended it before something like cheating could come into the picture.
Who knows, maybe if they had ended it sooner, the Mum wouldn't have hated the Dad so much and she wouldn't have TAKEN Rain and Ethan away from him and he would have had a proper relationship with his kids.
It is hard to choose a side because what both parents did was wrong. But in my opinion, the Mum is mad.

I don't get how she is a lawyer... it doesn't not fit her personality at all.
Which I guess is a good thing. She is definitely evidence as to why we shouldn't stereotype.

Oh also this was the first time I liked a blog post! I thought it was funny when Rain thought the Heartsick in Wisconsin was Liam 😂 and then we see his reply that no he is not
The Dad for me seems like a nice guy. I'm trying not to let Rain feeling sorry for him affect my feelings for him. I agree, he cheated and that's wrong. End of. But I can't help feeling that underneath that he's a nice guy. I'm not disregarding it. But he still wants what is best for his kids and that is where I'm getting the good guy side to his character from. If that makes sense.
I know like JUST TAKE A TEST ALREADY GIRL! And be careful!
