Quarterly Irish Read Nominations > January to March Poem - Nominate or Choose?

Bookworm with Kids Last year we decided to have an Irish poem or play as one of our Quarterly reads. At that stage, we decided that the moderator would choose a number of poems or plays and the poll would be held on these choices. This was to be the way it was done for a year. We now have to decide if we want to continue with the moderator choosing s number of poems or plays or if we would prefer to put the Quarterly poem/play to nominations.
What do people think?
Do we want to put this to a poll?
Thanks for your thoughts!

Colleen | 1205 comments I don't know enough about Irish poems or plays so I wouldn't be able to nominate . I'm not of a poetry reader but I've enjoyed the plays . Whatever the group decides I'm fine with it :)

Barbara (bdegar) | 4626 comments I think I can see the challenge. Poetry and plays may be less familiar to GRI members. I participate in a local Irish poetry group and so I am familiar with a wide range of Irish poets in the Republic and Northern Ireland. I am not as well read in Irish drama but maybe more than some members.
I honestly don't know whether nominations will work better. As Colleen said she doesn't feel familiar enough to nominate. We can see what others say.

Bookworm with Kids I think that I will nominate four poems for now so that we can run the poll. In the New Year, we can discuss this for the Quarterly play and ask people what they think about nominations or moderator choice.
Thanks.
