I just finished The Fault in Our Stars. Oh man it was so heartbreaking beautiful. I also finished Isla and the Happily Ever After. I really surprised myself liking that series.
I am pleased to report that December was a far, faaar better reading month for me than the previous one, because I read eight books!
I cannot tell you how happy it makes me to see all these lined up - some true gems of books in there and quite a few that I've been meaning to tick off the old to-read list for a while. A big part of how I managed to read this much was the Festive Read-a-Thon we had here on the group. So much fun, and it helped me add five books to this year's total!
Three of these were re-reads - Love Bites, The Long Haul and Lucky Break - all of which I loved just as much as the first time I read them. Of the rest I'd have to say my favourite was The Force Doth Awaken. I'm such a Star Wars and Shakespeare fan, and The Force Awakens is so special to me. So honestly this felt like it was written for me, and isn't that like the pinnacle point in a reader's life?!
Anyways, my least favourite book was Americanah I think. Some great observations on race in there but I found the story to be dragged out, dull and in the end unsatisfying. I actually feel kind of angry at the main character just now as I'm writing this, even though I finished it a couple of weeks ago! Ah well, still a valuable reading experience.
