Hello, our lovely members! 😊

2018 is just around the corner. And Lanelle and I wanted to change things up here to make it more fun and enjoyable. We came up with some ideas. We hope you would like it. Feel free to share your thoughts with us.

Ready? Let's go!

1. Doing a yearly challenge.
We can pick book series in the Public Domain. Meaning books like Sherlock Holmes, Arsène Lupin, Anne of Green Gables, The Scarlet Pimpernel, and so on.

So, it will look something like this.
January - Anne of Green Gables.
February - Anne of Avonlea.

Or we can re-do one of these Reading Challenges

2. Doing our regular monthly challenge.
But with a twist. We'll add points. 10 points per book, 5 points for reading the book and the other 5 for writing a review of the book in the group. Don't forget to tell us the books you read in the group. I'll need that to track your points. 😉

The one who gets the highest points each month will pick the next month reading whether it's a Genre, Author or Theme.

Please let us know, which one do you want the yearly, monthly challenge or both. And what book series do you want to read? Thanks! 😊

Azuma-chan | 49 comments I was actually preparing what to read in 2018 and this suggestion sounds pretty interesting. I love the idea of reading a series but I'm not sure if I can finish it all in a month. Maybe I can read some books from it?! And defiantly will write about it in the group. I know I wasn't active here this year, but I'm will do the challenge differently next year and discussing about what I read will be a good idea.

Hello, Asma! I'm glad you like it. Don't worry, the book series will be read throughout the year. One book per month. I can't read them all in one month, as well.

I'm super glad to hear that as well. I, too, will challenge myself and write a review for every book that I read on Goodreads.

So you're voting for the Yearly Challenge - book series, right? I know you've already read Arsène Lupin. Are you interested in a certain book series?

Azuma-chan | 49 comments Oh, so that’s how it is. Now I got the idea. Yes, yes! The yearly challenge it is. Umm, about which series? Well, Arsene Lupin does sound good but then again there are others too. How about you?! Are there any certain series in your mind?!

Great! Well... I don't know a lot of book series. I was going to wait for the members to suggest.

But I'm interested in both The Scarlet Pimpernel and Arsène Lupin

I've already read Sherlock Holmes and Anne of Green Gables (not all of it) but I don't mind re-reading them for the yearly challenge. :D

Azuma-chan | 49 comments Just went through my to-read list and found Miss Marple’s series. How about that?! And it’s just 13 books almost one per month. To be honest, I read only 4 books from Christie’s whole works so this could be a good start.

WOW! I've just finished reading Miss Marple's series for another group. And I would LOVE to do it again with you. The thing is I didn't get the chance to read it in order.

So, if you would like to do this challenge, I found 13 books online on OpenLibrary. They are 14 but I didn't find Miss Marple's Final Cases Luckily, I had that book in Arabic.

I can share the book list with you, the one I have on OpenLibrary. Are you familiar with the website? It's like a library but electronic. They give you the book for two weeks to read. And one person can borrow the book per time. The good thing about Miss Marple's book is that they are short.

I need the final answer from you, to start that challenge. I'm so excited

Azuma-chan | 49 comments Wow! You did read the series already?! But it’s great that can re-read it again for this challenge. Yes, I want to read them in order as well. Oh, you did tell me about that site before but I didn’t get the chance to try it. Now’s the perfect time I guess. Okay, Miss Marple it is. This will be fun.

Yes, I did. The challenge is for this year.

It sure is. Because I've all the books and can read them in order.

Great! Here's the link: https://openlibrary.org/ Tell me once you have an account there, so I can send you the list.

I'm sure it'll be. Would you like to do Lord Peter's books in the future? I can get the list ready also on OpenLibrary. ;)

Oh, I would let you have the books first. :D

Azuma-chan | 49 comments I made an account already and my username is (azuma_chan). I can't recall if I read any Lord Peter before, but it could work too. Thanks dear, but I'll only take the ones that are not in my device cause I usually download what I want to read in advance.

Okay, I'll send you the list to your Goodreads inbox.

We read Whose Body? together, last year. That's the first book of Lord Peter's series. And I would love to read them with you.

Okay, Cool! :D

Hello, Azuma-chan. I'm sorry but we can't do Miss Marple's challenge here. The books aren't in the Public Domain. We can't do Lord Peter's series. Would you like to do Sherlock Holmes? Of course, We can read Miss Marple but we can't discuss it here. I hope you'll understand. Besides, it was my fault for not noticing the date of publication. I hope to hear from you soon!

message 13: by Azuma-chan (new)

Azuma-chan | 49 comments That's okay. I thought you can read any book for the challenge but then I realized that you wrote it has to be in the Public Domain, that's one of the rules, right?! cause I was actually planning to buy new books this year (book fair and stuff). Sherlock Holmes series has 9 books, right?!

Thank you for understanding. Yeah, we have to read books in the Public Domain only. Good Luck with the new books. Yes, they are 9 books. It can be a mini-challenge. Would you like to do it?

message 15: by Azuma-chan (new)

Azuma-chan | 49 comments I think it will be a good one. Even if it’s just 9 books some of them are really long, like 400 pages. Alrighty then, Sherlock Holmes it is.
