Beacon Academy Statue
Melanie, after their exams, slid into position by the statue. It was out of the way enough, and yet in the way enough that she might get some observers, or even a sparring match in. She pulled her weapon from her back, and it spring to full size in an elegant twist. Effective, dangerous, and flashy. It was Melanie’s perfect counterpart. She stepped forward and swung, beginning basic Aura and Semblance warm-ups. The air seemed to grownwarmer, vibrating with her every movement.
Cerise passed by and smiled at her new team mate and stoped to see what she was doing, watching her do her elegant dance. For now she didn't get involved, staying out of the way of most and in the shadows so she can see how she handles her weapon and here Aura
Melanie seemed to move from doing easily possible to the impossible. She tapped into her semblance, increassing her luck, as it were. She spun and danced, rolling her shield around her body, pulling the bladed edge away at the last moment, spinning it about on a chain. She was well enough away that she did not damage the statue, either.
Cerise watched this with a excited smile, glad that she got her as a friend. In truth she was just here to be with her new friend, watching her train was very secondary. She just wanted to be around her. Finally she had a friend who she can hang around with, she didn't need to be alone anymore!
Hanging with her friend? More like... well, watching and stalking her comrade from a distance. It was likely progress for the isolated girl, though. But Melanie didn't seem to notice her... or, at least, she pretended not to. Cerise was a tad shy. Well, more than a tad.
Cerise just stayed at a distance, in truth she had no idea how to interact with people outside of the most basic interactions and in battle, in casual talk? She was lost and more then a little scared, for now she was happy just to watch her friend, even in she didn't notice her that was okay
“If you want to warm up, Melanie eventually volunteered, “you can join me for a bout. We could work on a team move or do some sparring.” She was patient... but Cerise’s absenteeism got a little tiring. They were a team, after all. Why would she hide from her team?
She jumped back in surprise but quickly calmed down and smiled cautiously, walking up to her "I-I-I w-w-would l-l-like that" She answered apprehensively and more then a little excited "T-t-team m-m-move s-s-sounds g-g-good" She added after a second
“Great. Do some stretches, flex the old aura. Show me what you can do. I gave you a good demonstration of my semblance. You can do the same. Let’s figure out the best ways to work together.”
She nodded and quickly started to do some basic stretches, the air around her heating up slowly as she jumped up and down and mainly focused on her speed and flexibility, at the moment her weapon was still on her back and she wasn't doing anything with it
Melanie reclined against the sculpture of the Grimm. It was time to observe and really see what was going on. How did this girl strike? What advantage might be used with it?
Cerise stopped doing her exercises for a second to breath. Then she got her weapon out, a pole arm and started to move. She smoothly started to run a quick poke with it towards the ground, after it landed she used the momentum to launch herself quickly in the air along with her weapon, which she quickly changed into a bow mode, aimed and fired three arrows towards where she previously hit the ground, when she landed she fired one more shot of a arrow with a red tip, when it collided with the ground it caused a small explosion and a small fire
“Hmm, well then,” Melanie smiled, stomping at the fire, “semblance?” She asked, checking. She was already thinking of a team move, but she wanted to make sure their powers would compliment, not collide.
Cerise looked around for a second then smiled and nodded closing her eyes, quickly the both of them were taken into a red forest "Welcome to cherry blood" She told her as she quickly started to climb a tree
Cerise paused for a second to think "Hard to explain, sort of alternate world? I sort of create it, if we leave we will appear in exactly where we were last" She explained
"What is the point of it? Is it a shelter from Grimm?" She reached out, touching one of the red trees, trying to feel. Was it illusion? Reality?
"Possibly, when I enter I can take people around me with me, including Grimm" She explained, the tree seemingly was completely real
“Can people retreat herefor safety in case of attack?” She asked, frowning intently in thought. “Can you move through it and teleport elsewhere?”
"No teleport, retreat possible, I mostly use it to fight where I want, best environment for me" To show this she quickly jumped back a couple of tree's and quickly became near invisible
"Are our bodies still out in the real world?" she asked, "We could use this for an element of surprise. Have you vanish, have the Grimm advance towards me, then have you attack from behind with lethal force..." She frowned, tapping at her chin.
"No trace in the real world, can spend hours in here" She explained further, smiling as she waited to hear more of what she thought
She tapped at her chin. "That means for an infinite safety shield with our team. You could save everyone if we got into a really bad pinch. That would also mean it would be wisest to keep you in the center-back of our formation, so we can cover you, and you can cover us. But your weapon isn't exactly ranged. Hmm..." She was really mulling this over.
She smiled as she quickly switched her weapon from her spear form to the bow, and quickly firing arrows at her feat in one swift motion "I got range" She explained
“Perfect.” She smiled brightly. Well... a move to go together might be for her to take reasonable archery damage while Melanie held it back, pin it, then Melanie could launch her, switch her luck into her partner, and the other girl could take out the grimm.
She smiled back, enjoying being with her, she smiled "W-w-what's, y-y-your s-s-semblance?" She asked hopefully, she wanted to help and it wasn't like she was dumb
“It’s a bit subtle,” she smiled, eyes bright, “but very useful. I can increase the likelyhood that any one desire comes true. Any action taken with confidence and authority.” She dipped her head. “I can use my semblance on me... or I can use it to amplify someone else.”
She smiled "T-t-that sounds good" She smiled "I am confidient in fights!" She told her with a big smile
She smiled and got her boy out "Never missing my arrows? Use when I want to use special arrows"
"I see..." then it would be best to amplify this team mate when they were both at a distance from their foes.
She smiled as she sat down "So, what to do now?" She asked, she hoped they would do something outside of training soon
Melanie did not get the hint at all. "Well, I suppose we could practice your archery with my amplification. I want to see just how lucky I can make you."
She smiled and nodded "Okay!" even still, she would prefer to keep her friend happy, so better to do this
"Well, tell me your targets as you aim, then we can evaluate how accurate you are with my boost. I'll begin in three... two... one... You're lucky."
She looked around and smiled, pointing at a bee around 10 metre's away "I can take that down" She stuttered out
“Great. Go for as fast as you can. Puck a new target after release. Imagine the fastest, most perfect chain of events.” Melanie took a few steps back to evaluate.
She nodded and immediately fired an arrow, hitting the fly with ease, within a second she shot another arrow pointed towards Melanie as she was taking her steps and fired a arrow just besides her head and hitting another fly "That good?" She asked
"Well, please don't shoot by my ear. I don't want you that cocky." Melanie was quite a bit indignant that her teammate would be so callous with her skill. It wasn't an exact science. "Never. NEVER do that again."
She squeaked a little and nodded rapidly "Okay" She muttered and seem to try and make herself smaller. Stupid, that was what she was, stupid for doing that
She sighed, then shook her head. "My little brother shot past me when I was a kid. Kind of... flashed back to that, I guess. Never shoot past or at an ally. It is far too risky, even if your luck is boosted. Once you lean on luck, it has the habit of dissipating. You were aiming for the fly, but what if I had moved? The arrow wouldn't have dodged me. It likely would have impaled me or knocked me back to achieve its goal of getting the target. Luck isn't perfect; it works on what you want it to work at." She put a hand on her teammate's shoulder. "That's enough for today, huh? What's fun to do around here?"
She nodded and smiled at the gesture "I don't know, I am new around here as well" Her smile dropped slightly, she wanted to have fun with her! She quickly tried to think of something the 2 of them could do together
Melanie felt at a loss for once. She wasn't sure what there was to do in this giant city. "I suppose... we could go window shopping?"
She nodded vigorously "T-t-that sounds good!" She smiled happily at that
She paused at that for a second "U-umm, c-curry?" She asked back
"Great! I'm not so familiar with this place, but I saw a shop that looked kind of... well, curry-y to me. In the downtown area. There were also a lot of really cool shops, but I didn't want to miss orientation, so window shopping really is something we could do!"
She smiled and nodded "O-okay, y-you lead the way"she responded ttmcyjrheith
