Thanks for the encouragement, Tien. I could see you had clearly thought through everything, because of the swaps options. I'm excited to get going (but I doubt I'll be the person to open Round 2).

No need to worry - after all, the whole point of a "challenge" is to be "challenging"! A couple of these shelves have books that at some point I thought looked interesting (apparently, since I marked them "want to read") but never actually got to. This challenge is going to move them up - so that's a big plus! Either I'll like them, and perhaps find some new series/authors to read, or at the very least, I'll get them off the TBR!
And, the swap option covers the issue of a couple shelves with nothing I want to read - I was lucky enough to only spin a few of those.

So, when someone finishes their first round, do we all just move on to round 2 and stop working on round 1? Or do we need to personally finish round 1 to move on to round 2?

You don't have to personally finish round 1 to start on round 2 once it's been unlocked. You can work on all rounds at the same time but we'll have the caveat that books cannot crossover between rounds, as usual (as in a book you're using for round 1 can't also be used for round 2 or 3 or 4).

Sandy, I do this too! I scan the proposed shelf for 5-10 pages looking for books either previously planned for a challenge, on my wishlist or on my want to read. Then I select one of them. This way I keep making progress on books I have, at one time, wanted to read. However, I must admit to a few challenges this time with a couple of the shelves I ended up with.

Almost hit my guess on the head. I figured it would take me 40 spins... 41 was the magic number! although I hit 3 LOTs and 2 bankruptcies, so technically it will take me 36 books to read 12,114 pages :-oMy worst shelf was Fabulist - had to replace that one. I lucked out on the Elderly shelf... was glad I hit it only once. Also lucked out on Pastiche since I hit it twice and it so happened someone put the entire Lunar Chronicles series on it. Who-dun-it and Kick-ass-heroines was harder than I expected considering my reading preferences but so many of the series I'm reading had only the first or second book tagged and not the book I'm on in the series :-(
Had to dig deep into the TBR for some of these which I guess is the point... so well done, mods!! Looking forward to the actual reading now! But don't expect me to be the first to finish and unlock Round 2 with 39 books to read!

I think like 52 maybe? And my reading has slowed down. Pastiche is a hard shelf! So was Fabulist. Not my types of books but I'm sure I'll find something I like.

I would have been okay with geek I think! The whole thing makes me want to a) add random books to shelves just because and b) create random shelves

2. To skip a shelf that you've spinned, you may replace that shelf with one of the following 4 moderators' nominated shelves:
