This book tells the story of Carley Connors, a twelve-year-old girl, who is placed in foster care with the Murphy family. She has to deal with her feelings of isolation and being an outsider in this strange family while dealing with her mom and abusive stepfather, which is the reason she's in foster care in the first place. Lots of kids will be able to identify with this character. The story is well-written and will keep kids engaged.
