JANUARY 2018 - Read a book that is being adapted into a movie or tv show in 2018
Here are my personal suggestions to anyone looking for something to read. Books I really enjoyed being adapted in 2018 include:Ready Player One
Picnic at Hanging Rock
The Haunting of Hill House
The Girl in the Spider's Web
Omg how did I miss this? I'm already excited for the 2018 challenge, lol. That said I think I may read A Wrinkle In Time. I've never read it and that is shameful. I also just got Ready Player One on audiobook so I may do that as well.

That is so funny because I was just going to post that I bought A Wrinkle in Time today. I have also -shamefully- never read it, and I need a smallish book because I got "IT" for Christmas, and I will need time to finish that so I have time for Brazil book too lol.
I'll be reading A Wrinkle in Time and Crazy Rich Asians because Overdrive thinks its funny to make me wait weeks for my hold books and then make them available all at once. Haha

lol we're staying here! I was waiting for 2017 to end to actually change the name group. now I revamped the homepage a bit and started the new challenge ;)

Just downloaded The Terror, because we have the perfect weather to imagine being stuck in the ice in Canada!
I like reading books I haven't read for challenges but thinking about revisiting A Wrinkle in Time. I saw someone who was doing a book challenge where the prompt was to read a book you didn't like or stopped and WiT and Ready Player One fit respectively.
I'll be reading Crazy Rich Asians -- I've been wanting to read it so I'm excited that it suits January's theme. I'll probably read one or two extra books on the list as well just because I have a lot of free time. I'm thinking about re-reading A Wrinkle in Time because I haven't read it since, like, the 90s.(Also, my first post here, I'm muffintiem on ONTD.)

Haha"I hate when that happens! It's either feast or famine on that app. Also, I'm gonna try giving The Alienist a go.
I won't be reading A Wrinkle in Time, but since a lot of people are, keep in mind that any of you is welcome to start a discussion thread.
First time doing this challenge! :DI'm reading Where'd You Go, Bernadette? and LOVING it so far. Such an easy and entertaining read.
This is my first time participating in this challenge. I'm going to read Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn, which I bought a few years ago but didn't get around to reading. I tend to buy books on sale and then never read them so the fact that it fits January's theme is a great motivator.
I can't decide between The Miseducation of Cameron Post, A Wrinkle in Time, and Sharp Objects. If I can find my copy of Miseducation of Cameron Post, I'll go with that, but it's not on my bookshelf.

I'm also participating for the first time and will go with "Where'd You Go, Bernadette?" because I have read a bunch of the other novels already. Terror, Ready Player One and The Alienist are all great.
I'm reading Annihilation to start myself off with something I'll actually finish and get back on the wagon.
I'm going to try and do 3 of them this month:Sharp Objects
The Alienist
Red Sparrow
Also adding Where'd You Go, Bernadette? to my list. Going for 50 books read this year so might as well!
Hi! This is my first time posting (farawaysong on ontd!). Still deciding between The City & the City or A Wrinkle in Time. I suppose I'll start both and see which one grabs my attention.
This is my first time doing the challenge. I'll be reading Where'd You Go, Bernadette? as well as finishing my two books from December.
I need a bigger list bc I read most of those on the lists above or I don't have any interest (most YA) etc. I was going to do Bluebird Bluebird but idk if FX is airing the pilot in 2018 or what.
It's my first time doing a reading challenge and I picked Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda as my book. I chose to listen to the audiobook for it because I liked the narrator and I want to improve my listening skills (english isn't my first language).
I hope I get to finish this year's challenge... That being said, I'll definitely read A Wrinkle in Time since I bought the B&N hardcover edition. Other books I'd like to read include:The Haunting of Hill House
The Hate U Give
Crazy Rich Asians
Annihilation
P.S. The Miseducation of Cameron Post is getting an adaptation??! Oh... with Chloe Grace Moretz.
I started Disobedience and I'm also gonna give Red Sparrow a try. My own personal goal for this challenge is to read at least two books for each theme.
I think I'm either going to go with Ready Player One or A Wrinkle in Time! I have The Hate U Give and Annihilation on my list as well.
Oh, Disobedience! I missed that on the list. It was shown on TIFF last year but it's only being released in theatres this year so it definitely counts for the challenge.
I think I'm going to read You by Caroline Kepnes, and I already have The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society checked out from the library, which apparently is also getting an adaptation in 2018.

I looooved Haunting of Hill House
Im going to read A Wrinkle in Time as well. I actually read Annihilation after seeing it on the original lj post so i cant really count that one. Maybe Crazy Rich Asians as well if my library has it. I use Borrowbox but ive just downloaded overdrive so hopefully my library as signed up (New Zealand user here)
Rereading The Hate U Give and A Wrinkle in Time and also picking up Crazy Rich Asians and Ready Player One.
Update on Where'd You Go, Bernadette - I am LOVING it, it's super addictive and a very, very fast read. I can't wait for the film starring Cate Blanchett. <3
I put The Alienist on hold, but I won't get to it for forever!
So I also put on hold The Haunting of Hill House, and I'll be picking it up this weekend or early next week.

I read Sharp Objects for this month, but I'm getting Good Omens from the library too. I read it years ago, but I'd like a refresher before the show.
I'm also going to read A Wrinkle In Time. My book group has it as the first book in February, so it's next on my list to read as I already read both January books in December.Annihilation I read right before Thanksgiving.
Rachel wrote: "If other ppl are gonna read Haunting of Hill House too, I can start a thread! :)"I already read it but would love to join in on the discussion!
I am reading Sweetbitter as I need something light after the emotional last couple of books i've read. I am still early on but am really enjoying it so far, love these type of books set in NYC!
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is such a good read, I finished the entire book in one sitting! I cannot recommend it enough and am curious about the movie.

Suggestions for your book of the month are HERE and HERE.
There ARE other books that qualify for the month but haven't been included in the list (like the new 50 Shades of Grey movie) but if you do pick one that isn't there, make sure it's REALLY coming out in 2018!
/!\ The first post was edited to add the Beatrix Potter book that is being adapted (The Tale of Peter Rabbit). This year there is also Paddington 2 which is based on the Paddington Bear books. And PBS has a Little Women adaptation coming up.
