We're over halfway through the event so take a little break and play a little game. As a bonus, it will earn you a move in the Individual Board Game!

1. Half of the lights on the Christmas tree are burnt out: Name a book/series/character that started out good but then went downhill.

2. Annoying Great Aunt Sally who will not leave you alone: Name a book that you didn’t enjoy, but everyone else seems to love so it never goes away.

3. You hear your parents putting out the presents and learn Santa isn’t real: Name a book that was spoiled.

4. It’s freezing outside: Name a main character you just couldn’t connect with.

5. That scratchy homemade wool sweater you got for Christmas years ago but won’t get rid of: show/name some books that have been sitting on your shelves for a while, and you aren’t motivated to read, but you don’t have the heart to get rid of.

6. Grandma Got Run-over by a Reindeer: Name a character death you still are mad about (Use spoiler tags!! You can also use TV or movie deaths)

7. The malls are overly crowded with holiday shoppers: Name a series that has too many books in it/went on too long.

8. The Grinch: Name a main character you HATE

Half of the lights on the Christmas tree are burnt out: Name a book/series/character that started out good but then went downhill. oh geez, I hate to say it but I loved The Hunger Games and Catching Fire, not so much though with the last book Mockingjay....I needed more GAMES!!

2. Annoying Great Aunt Sally who will not leave you alone: Name a book that you didn’t enjoy, but everyone else seems to love so it never goes away. Why does everyone love The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao? Or The Alchemist??

3. You hear your parents putting out the presents and learn Santa isn’t real: Name a book that was spoiled. The Troop, I'm reading it now and the reviews spoiled it immediately.

4. It’s freezing outside: Name a main character you just couldn’t connect with. That girl from Shatter Me

5. That scratchy homemade wool sweater you got for Christmas years ago but won’t get rid of: show/name some books that have been sitting on your shelves for a while, and you aren’t motivated to read, but you don’t have the heart to get rid of. These would be all the classics I've collected: North and South, War and Peace, Middlemarch, Don Quixote, Dracula etc.... so big, so scary, who has the time??

6. Grandma Got Run-over by a Reindeer: Name a character death you still are mad about (Use spoiler tags!! You can also use TV or movie deaths)(view spoiler)

7. The malls are overly crowded with holiday shoppers: Name a series that has too many books in it/went on too long. The only thing that comes to mind is the Sookie Stackhouse Series Set...I couldn't even get past the first, the show was great but the book sucked.

8. The Grinch: Name a main character you HATE Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter and Captain Jonathan "Black Jack" Randall from Outlander.

The Living by Lean Cullinan. I enjoyed this book, but I felt the ending was pretty ridiculous so I would say it started well then went downhill.

2. Annoying Great Aunt Sally who will not leave you alone: Name a book that you didn’t enjoy, but everyone else seems to love so it never goes away.

Please don’t hate me, but I’m going to say The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. I didn’t completely dislike it, in fact I thought it was a good read just not as amazing as everyone else seems to think it is.

3. You hear your parents putting out the presents and learn Santa isn’t real: Name a book that was spoiled.
I’m not sure it counts, but I know the plot of A Christmas Carol so well from movies etc that I felt was sort of spoiled for me.

4. It’s freezing outside: Name a main character you just couldn’t connect with.
Sam Spade from The Maltese Falcon. Though I guess that’s kind of expected because of the way the book is written.

5. That scratchy homemade wool sweater you got for Christmas years ago but won’t get rid of:show/name some books that have been sitting on your shelves for a while, and you aren’t motivated to read, but you don’t have the heart to get rid of.
I can only think of one: Climbing the Bookshelves: The Autobiography of Shirley Williams. It was a gift and I do honestly want to read it one day, it’s just that there’s always something I want to read more.

6. Grandma Got Run-over by a Reindeer: Name a character death you still are mad about (Use spoiler tags!! You can also use TV or movie deaths)
From Harry Potter: (view spoiler)
From The West Wing: (view spoiler)

7. The malls are overly crowded with holiday shoppers: Name a series that has too many books in it/went on too long.
I don’t read many series so I can’t think of one here, sorry! If I can pick a tv show instead then I’d say The X Files. Could’ve stopped at about season five in my opinion.

8. The Grinch: Name a main character you HATE
Isabel Dalhousie from The Sunday Philosophy Club. She is arrogant, pretentious and interfering. And she has an irritating habit of assuming she has some moral authority over everyone she encounters. I wish I liked the character more because I really enjoy Alexander McCall Smith’s writing and I would like to continue with this series if I can overcome my dislike of the character.

Divergent. I really liked the first book, but lost interest as the series progressed. Allegiant was okay, but I didn't like how Tris and Four's "voices" in their alternating perspectives sounded exactly the same.

2. Annoying Great Aunt Sally who will not leave you alone: Name a book that you didn’t enjoy, but everyone else seems to love so it never goes away.
The Underground Railroad. I just couldn't get into it at all, and it was everywhere at the beginning of this year. I also wasn't a huge fan of the Twilight series.

3. You hear your parents putting out the presents and learn Santa isn’t real: Name a book that was spoiled.
A good friend of mine spoiled the ending of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince for me!! I was so upset with her. We had talked before about our guesses of which character died. She read the book before I did, and came to me one day and said "You're an excellent prophet!" Apparently I had guessed right...but that's no reason to spoil the ending!

4. It’s freezing outside: Name a main character you just couldn’t connect with.
Beth from The Deep End of the Ocean was so selfish! Also the main characters of Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. They were much too stereotypical and vulgar, and I could not connect with them at all. I also couldn't connect at all with Gwen from What I Thought Was True.

5. That scratchy homemade wool sweater you got for Christmas years ago but won’t get rid of: show/name some books that have been sitting on your shelves for a while, and you aren’t motivated to read, but you don’t have the heart to get rid of.
The Pickwick Papers, which I got either for free or very cheap. I can't remember which, but it became part of my collection of classics. It's such a massive book and Dickens' language is hard for me, so I'm not very motivated. Also, One Hundred Years of Solitude. I meant to read it this year, but kept putting it off and putting it off until I finally decided to skip it.

In terms of my TBR, I added several classics when I first started my account that I have never been super motivated to read, but I don't want to remove them either because I see them as long-term goals. For example, Gone with the Wind, Robinson Crusoe, and the Russian classics (War & Peace, Crime & Punishment).

6. Grandma Got Run-over by a Reindeer: Name a character death you still are mad about (Use spoiler tags!! You can also use TV or movie deaths)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer - (view spoiler)
Harry Potter - (view spoiler)

7. The malls are overly crowded with holiday shoppers: Name a series that has too many books in it/went on too long.
The longest series I've ever read were The Pendragon Series (10 books) and A Series of Unfortunate Events Box: The Complete Wreck (13 books), but I didn't mind that they were so long.

8. The Grinch: Name a main character you HATE
I pretty much hated all of the characters in The Slap. I didn't really like that book in general, but the characters were all unlikeable people. Beth from The Deep End of the Ocean was also horrible.

I don't think she really counts as a main character, but the mother from Flowers in the Attic was just awful. I know most people tend to hate the Grandmother most, but I think the mother in some ways was much worse.

The Maze Runner

2. Annoying Great Aunt Sally who will not leave you alone: Name a book that you didn’t enjoy, but everyone else seems to love so it never goes away.
Ready Player One

3. You hear your parents putting out the presents and learn Santa isn’t real: Name a book that was spoiled.
What?! Santa isn't real? WHAT?!
Hmmm. All the Bright Places, I already know how it ends, spoilers are annoying.

4. It’s freezing outside: Name a main character you just couldn’t connect with.
The heroine in Flame in the Mist.

5. That scratchy homemade wool sweater you got for Christmas years ago but won’t get rid of: show/name some books that have been sitting on your shelves for a while, and you aren’t motivated to read, but you don’t have the heart to get rid of.
I own the 4 first books of A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones). I'll never read 3 and 4 and found the 2nd very boring :D

6. Grandma Got Run-over by a Reindeer: Name a character death you still are mad about (Use spoiler tags!! You can also use TV or movie deaths)
Someone in The Serpent King.

7. The malls are overly crowded with holiday shoppers: Name a series that has too many books in it/went on too long.
Honestly, Mistborn. They are nice but too much big and I'm not a fan, so it's overwhelming.

8. The Grinch: Name a main character you HATE
The mayor in the Chaos Walking series >_<
