Petr entered the market again. His head was slightly clouded from his last high, but it was far more pleasurable than the terribly indiscreet twitches he was party to when refraining from the drug's use. He'd come outside for air, hoping for fresh air. Wasn't much of that around. But here he was, nonetheless.
Raine quickly glanced around the market. Her eyes darting from one stall to the next. She bit her lip and pulled her hood over her wavy red hair. She carried on walking until she smacked into something or someone.
Someone carelessly crashed into him. He didn't move an inch, and it was without moving his gaze from the clouded skies that he took his assaulter by the shoulder and threw her to the ground, warning her in his gruff accent to "Watch where she was going, or someone would do make sure she didn't get up from where they put her."
Raine hit the ground hard, all the air was sucked out of her. She quickly regained her breath then swallowed her dry throat and looked out from under her hood. "I'm sorry." She said and tried to get away.
Petr casually extended a foot, and kicked her back onto the ground in front of him. "Leaving so soon? To think, we've only just met."
She looked up at him and her heart stuttered against her chest. Her eyes were wide as her hood slid off of her head, exposing her fire like hair. "I have no idea why'd want to leave, you seem charming." Even when scared her young thinks before she does. She winced and glances up at him.
He pulled her up easily, offering a cold smile. "You need to learn to take better care of yourself, lass, or you'll end up dead, and that's no joke."
"Yeah I know." She says as she lands back on her feet. She slips her palm out of his and looks upper into his eyes. "Thanks for not slaughtering me I guess?"
"Thank the opium, not myself. Most days I would've." He thought, then held out the hand again. "The name's Petr."
She raised her eyebrows and puts out her hand in his again. "Raine." She smiles slightly her posture stiff.
She just blinks more than slightly confused. She gets shoved by someone in the crowd. "God I hate being short." She muttered and stepped forward to get out of the stampede.
Petr threw a stone at the man who shoved her. When he turned, Petr shouted at him to watch his way. Petr then pulled Raine up onto the half-pavement, away from the crowd.
She looked up at him in surprise. "Thanks." She says softly and bites her lip. Raine really hated this place. She pulled her hood back over her head and looked at Petr.
She quirks a brow and wrinkles her nose smelling the drugs. "Well you didn't kill me and you saved me from someone else." She shrugged.
"Chances are that something else will kill you first, in here," he pointed out. "Only problem's getting hold of it."
She raises her eye brows. "Yeah I'll be dead before my next birthday probably." She shivers. "Why do you do drugs?" She asks.
"Because I can, and it makes me feel better. Evidently it keeps other people alive longer as well, so I don't see why you're complaining."
"No, obviously." She said and watched people running around the market. Raine couldn't help but be paranoid living in a place like this.
"I'm not." She muttered. "My parents went all keeper and I tried to run away they caught me and tried to turn me into a drone, I resisted. So here I am. "My own parents." She spat bitterly. "Why am I telling you this?"
"Because I asked. Because you resent the fact of it. Because I probably won't remember when my head does clear."
"Yeah...Will you kill me when you have a clear head?" She asked as if it was normal to wonder weather they will kill you.
"You are indeed. And that's probably why no-one else has bothered you. I have somewhat of a powerful reputation."
