Missy was messing around, just like she wasn't supposed to be. She wanted to climb a tree or throw things. Just screw around like nothing was happening in the world. She found a stable tree and swung on the branch.
Nicole spotted someone in the distance hanging on a tree. This was obvious that it wasn't a keeper. Though it might be a distraction. Nicole hopped down from the tree and held her knife to the girl,"who are you?" She demanded.
"The coolest penguin on the iceberg," Missy turned and smirked. She saw the knife and scowled. "You some Keeper's spy or something? I know they start young," her voice dripped with mock-pity.
Nicole raises an eyebrow. "I was just about to ask you the same thing. Are you a spy?" She looked deep into the girls eyes just in case. She avoided blinking fir a mili second more or she might miss her. She didn't want to be caught or killed by a keeper.
"I'll trust you," she picked up a long stick and walked a few paces. "No, I'm not some Keeper. Now, I've trusted that you're not. If you try to kill me, I think I'll have my answer on whether you are one or not," Missy made twirls in the air with the stick.
Still not taking her eyes off her, Nicole flicked her knife shut and slipped it in the pocket of her belt. "Alright, i'll trust you, for now," she said. Your all on your own?" She asked. Maybe she was part of a camp or something.
"Yup, screwing around this mighty fine playground just as you found me. I ask the same of you?" Missy said. The stick was light with having been dead a long while.
She bit her lip, "yeah, same here. Have you heard any camps?" She asked. Nicole wanted to find out. She could maybe join a rebel camp then they could find the Keepers and kill them together. Quick and easy. Just like they killed her brother.
"Why, of course. For I am apart of one. But why must you ask?" Missy said, now leaning up against a pale, dead tree. She hoped it wouldn't break and she would then fall. That'd be embarrassing.
Nicole stuffed her hands into her pockets and looked at the girl. "I've came to a realisation that we cant fight this war alone," she simply said.
"I see. And I do agree," Missy said. Ooo, that rhymed! she thought to herself. "I can show you my camp. And yes, I confirm to you now that it is a rebel camp. Very rebellious."
"I just need a proper shelter and food. Some killings then ill be on my way," she said. She hoped the camp was big and invisible.
"Come, come, then. We have all that," Missy said, leading the way through the forest. She glanced back at the older girl to see if she was following. "Name's Missy by the way. You?"
"Nicole," she simply answered. She moved the dead branch slightly as they walked. Everything and every place was falling apart.
"I like it," she said, walking through as noisily as she could. "Simple and pretty but not too much so in either direction."
"How many people are you in this group?" She asked. She didn't really want to waste her time if it was just two people or something.
"Mm, I don't know. A lot though. I don't know everybody there and I've lived there since I was six," Missy shrugged. "We have a headquarters base kinda thing. It's a bunch of caves and neat stuff."
"Mm, I don't know. A lot though. I don't know everybody there and I've lived there since I was six," Missy shrugged. "We have a headquarters base kinda thing. It's a bunch of caves and neat stuff."
"Thats great," Nicole said smiling bit. Smiling still felt strange and distant to her. Something that she didn't do so often. "Do you stay there with your family?" She asked.
Missy faltered in her step but quickly recovered. "No," she said after a long pause. "They live in a place called the Pound."
nicole slowed down a bit she looked at Missy. "The pound? How?" Was all she said. She sometimes was thankful her family was dead and weren't alive to witness the horrible things that happened everyday.
"Just the Keepers. My parents and I were at this secret meeting thing with the rebels but Keepers had a little birdy or something. The Keepers ambushed and I got away. Simple story, I suppose," Missy said nonchalantly though she was fuming inside towards the keepers.
"Don't worry we'll get 'em back," she said. She thought about her family and her past but she pushed the thought away.
"Yeah..." she said, not sure if that'd ever happen. It seemed like a far off dream. "How about you? Family?"
"They died when i was younger. My brother looked after me a lot. Then the keepers killed him," she simply said trying not to have an emotion in her voice or a hunger to cry. "I roll alone now," she said.
"I'm sorry. But I see you and I are in similar situations. I was raised by my father's friend. But I didn't have a sibling. I see why you'd like to see about the rebels," Missy stepped carefully over a small fallen tree.
Nicole nodded."don't feel sorry for me, feel happy for me that my family is gone and happy, and that they don't have to live through this shit," she said.
"I like your thinking, Nicole. What made that your outlook on it?" she asked. Missy had never really been a good person. She wasn't always happy and she wasn't very serious. Just snarky and sass. She took the half-empty perspective.
Nicole shrugged. "The situation were in. It just makes me think over and over. It makes death not a scary thing but life itself terrifying. What did the master ever do to make us think that life was great?" Nicole kicked a dead branch out of her way. She had a hunger to rip the masters heart out and feed it to the dogs.
"I'm afraid I'm not that thoughtful. Exact reason you found me out here in the first place," she kicked a twig out of her way. "But I do like your thinking. Life sucks and it's gonna be that way. I might roll with that."
Nicole nodded once more. "Yeah but I believe in karma. I believe that these guys will suffer and die too. THey definatly will," Nicole said. She imagined them dead, a life without them. Happiness. It seemed so far away.
"Maybe. But right now they're living the high life. And that's the sad truth. Even if and when they do come down from their thrones, it'll take a long while for things to settle. By then, we'll probably be dead. We'll never get to be happy," Missy said, not in her usual banter.
"I'm going to disagree with you on that one. If we suffer and die, we'll die happy becuase we will know we fought and did our best. That's what counts," she said. Even though she never ever wanted to be killed by a keeper and wanted to die ever other way else she still found that dying when trying was still an exception.
Missy shrugged, then thought of something else. "But what if we lose? What if they just killed us all or sent us to the Pound?"
"If they send us to the pound we get out if they kill us, we will know we tried," she simply said. Nicole hopped over a tree trunk and looked at Missy waiting for her answer.
Missy stayed quiet for a moment. "But then there's whether or not we have a conciousness after we die..." she said, not quite sure if she believed.
Nicole sighed. "For now lets focus on how to get to the pound, save the people and kill master and his little friends. We can worry about dying later," she said.
"Alrighty, we're just about to the HQ," Missy said, forgetting the death thing as she was told. ((Go to Rebel HQ thread then?))
((Ya that sounds good, I also thought who else to help Eve escape haha just thought that would be a funny idea))As they traveled through the forest Lyric caught a rabbit just at the edge. Then another hour in they almost ran into a patrol. But their fairly loud talking gave them away. They skirted them and broke into a run for a while to put some space in between them and danger. As Lyrica slowed the pace thinking they were far enough away, she almost whispered just to be sure no one could hear them, "That could've been close...just a little more ahead around this bend we'll be at my house. I just need to grab a few things and we will be on our way."
((Btw I just thought to kinda skip ahead ya know))
((Bah silly me, we should've just gone to my Lyrica's house thread. We can switch to that in a second.))
((Skipping's good. It'd get boring having them just walk for days.))"Your house?" Eve asked. She knew the girl had lived on her own but wasn't sure how she could make a house in the middle of these deadened woods. She was expecting some sort of shelter, not necessarily a house.
As they turned around the bend they came to just more trees. "We're here." Lyrica then did a quick four note whistle that sounded a lot like a bird. A minute later they heard a very quiet one note whistle in response.
"Where?" Eve asked softly, a little confused. She didn't see anything. And the whistle thing baffled her further.
Another second later a rope later falls out a nearby tree. "Thanks my little Softy!" Sh called out as she walked to the later. "Come on Eve. There's someone I want you to meet! She'll be joining us the rest of the way."((Switch to the Lyrica's House thread? I'll post first))
