Having trouble trying to figure out what genre your book is in? Having trouble trying to place it into the right category on Amazon? Well you're in luck. Here is where you can list any unique genre and tell us about it. It could be a sub-genre of one of the big ones or it could be a very rare one that not many people know about.

The idea is to get people talking about these genres, to get help in placing your book in the correct one and it's a great place to help others when they can't really figure out what their genre is because let's be honest, it does happen!

List your genres!

Urban Gothic: is a subgenre of Gothic fiction, film horror, and television. It involves styles and themes with industrial and post-industrial urban society. It was created and coined in the mid-19th century in Britain, Ireland and the United States, Some examples of the novels within the genre are The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, The Picture of Dorian Gray and Dracula. Urban gothic has become more modernized in the graphic novel world with films and books that contain dark cities. Also authors such as Anne Rice and Brian Keene fall under the urban gothic genre.

Splatterpunk: A sub-genre of horror that deals with horror on a more dark and disturbing level in which gore and violence are very graphic and prominent. It focuses less on character development and plot and focuses more on the idea that violence and gore will be the main focus.

Michael Benavidez | 1605 comments Weird Westerns is an interesting one. Never knew it was a thing, even after having read the first Dark Tower. Just thought of it as something fantasy like with a western feel...which happens to be exactly what Weird Westerns are. Go figure.
It's a very varied genre, but always something fantastical (horror or otherwise) combined into something of a western feel.

Yeah weird westerns is an unknown but interesting genre. My second book is a weird western and while it's been hard to promote I have been able to secure it in small niche categories on Amazon. I feel it's a genre that has a fan base, unique but it's there.

Michael Benavidez | 1605 comments It really is a harder genre to promote, one that's more niche than anything. Also filled with tons of hits and misses, but when it hits oh wow

I'm currently running a promo for mine this week and so far it's slow but I'm hoping it picks up and reaches the right people.
