nightowl99 Yes thanks to Linda for the Denise Swanson idea. I find it interesting in these challenges that the more obscure challenges are often easier than the ones that seem simple. For instance, I would find it easier to find a cozy about a black cat who plays Scrabble than one set in a school!

Funny that I never think of the Miss Withers books for teacher challenges. I've read some of them and have seen all the movies - Edna May Oliver was the best Miss Withers!

For siblings, all the bibliophile mysteries by Kate Carlisle are good, as Brooklyn and Derek have both siblings.

There are a few mystery series set at some type of school:

* Bellehaven House by Rebecca Kent
* Beth Kennedy series by Laura Alden
* Southern Cooking School by Paige Shelton
* Pismawollops PTA BY Rebecca M. Douglass
* Cooking Class series by Miranda Bliss
* Sophie Knowles by Ada Madison

A couple individual titles:

* Class Reunions Are Murder by Libby Klein
* Lesson Plan for Murder by Lori Robbins
* High School Reunion by Mallory Kane

Also remember that a lot of "craft" series often feature classes, such as books by Amanda Lee or Maggie Sefton.

Finally, don't forget that books do not have to be mysteries. The Gallagher Girls series by Ally Carter is a fun YA series.

nightowl99 Thanks for that great list Heather L! I have to get some of the books from the Southern Cooking School series - that sounds right up my alley!

Gary Sundell | 2274 comments The Poppy Peters series by A. Gardner has the MC attending school become a baker.

Tracy D. Comstock's Schooled in Murder series is set at a school and the MC is a teacher, so is her boyfriend.

Also, Joelle Charbonneau's Glee Glub books (https://www.goodreads.com/series/9884...)
And thinking about it, if it works, I've recently discovered the Miss Seeton series (https://www.goodreads.com/series/7934... she's an art teacher (albeit retired in most of the series)

Gary Sundell | 2274 comments I am about halfway through my second book this month. Been in a funk while dealing with having to say goodbye to Louis my 18 year old boycat. Louis as a kitten is in the foreground of the profile picture. I still have his slightly younger tortise shell sister, she is in the background of that picture. She is also 18. Monday was a rough day. He is in a better place. It doesn't make it easier...sigh. Thankfully, I was able to finish off Ukulele Deadly by Leslie Langtry this week and lose myself in an Oz book.

Betty | 106 comments Gary - So very, very sorry about the loss of Louis. It is so hard to lose a precious, loving pet. They are family; sometimes better than family in ways. May memories of the happy times help ease your heart.

Thanks Betty. I had to set aside Motto for Murder by Langtry until later, Merry Wrath, the MC has 2 cats. Louis was my mellow purr monster. His sister is small, hyper and cute, She does curl up next to me when I stretch out on the bed to read.

Gary, so sorry to hear the loss of your beloved cat. I know how deep that feeling goes. I lost my soul mate Biscuit, a yellow labrador retriever, in 2009. It still brings me to tears whenever I talk about her. Cuddle with your other cat and be grateful for the time you have with her.

Sorry about your loos, Gary. The only comfort, although it is not easy, is that he is in a better place.

Louis had developed an ataxic gate about a week and a half before he was sent across the rainbow bridge. He was on meds, but last weekend he lost all ability to walk. No stroke or anything. It was a mystery to his vet too. Monday afternoon before he took his final ride to the vet, I got him to the food dish, put down a fresh can of food. He ate almost 3/4ths of the can and drank like normal. He still couldn't stand so I knew intellectually it was time. 18 years is a great life for a cat. His non-litter mate sister is also 18. It seems weird not to have him purring up a storm from his favorite spot. I know his spirit is still here and he is no longer suffering. His sister and I are adjusting.

Thanks to everyone for the kind thoughts.

Now back to Dorothy, the Wizard and companions as the try to get through the Land of the Gargoyles.

That was told to me that frequently by the vet. Louis was her favorite cat patient because he was so mellow.

Jess (mividadulce) | 101 comments I'm so sorry for your loss Gary. My boycat, Dulce, looks quite similar to Louis. He's 10 years old and I'm refusing to think about the time I have to say goodbye to him. I hope he is in peace now.
