Charlotte--you are in luck. There is only supposed to be one more book in that series, so at least you won't have to wait--and wait--and wait some more for the next one. I've been following it since Magic Bites was first released, way back in 2007. The series has already gone over how many books that Ilona and her husband had planned (this is a husband/wife writing team, in case you weren't aware) but they realized as they got closer to what was supposed to be the last book in the series that they were going to need more than a single book to handle the "big bad", especially with the way that he'd been built up in it. So they decided to extend the series by 2 books. And I have to admit--I AM wondering how they are going to handle it.
Well, I do hope you enjoyed reading about Kate and Curran and the rest of the crew in Atlanta.
Well, I do hope you enjoyed reading about Kate and Curran and the rest of the crew in Atlanta.
It’s a series I’ve avoided for a long, long time Ann, because I’m not a fan of shifters - but I really, really enjoyed it. Kate’s a great character, but I LOVE Curran. It’s almost convinced me to give Mercy Thompson another go. Maybe shifters aren’t as bad as I thought.
I’m in. Will edit and update. Unfortunately, can’t edit on iPhone. 🤗 Déjà vu~

How many of the Mercy Thompson books have you read Charlotte? I think they are getting better and better.
I don't know if I'll get 5 in because I have a couple hefty nonfiction library books I need to read and take back. That said, I've already re-read Archangel's Heart by Nalini Singh so that's one down :)I'd really like to catch up on a couple of series that I've let slide - Kresley Cole, Larissa Ione, and Gena Showalter - so maybe this will give me a kick in the right direction!
I'm not sure what books, so I'll add as I go. Looking forward to all the books I'll find/rediscover this year!Deja Vu

Do you guys count your re-reads as books read this year on your GR challenge? I did last year, just not so sure if I should this year.
I don't think I'll get 10 books in this month, but I can definitely do 5!2/5 Completed

1.
2. The Trouble with Twelfth Grave by Darynda Jones
Brand New
1.
2. Ghost Gifts by Laura Spinella
3. The Vixen's Lead by Tate James
Lynn--if you read it, it counts. That's the way I look at it. And sometimes, especially when I'm in a lot of pain (stay out of car smashes, that's all I have to say) I have to re-read something that I already read, because it's the only way I can force myself to focus. Usually the light, humourous books are the ones that I read then (I think I've re-read Molly Harper's 2 series set in Half Moon Hollow about 15 times. And all of the Janet Evanovich 's as well. Plus another 5 or 6 writers that I can depend on to make me laugh, which definitely helps with the pain. So, count it. Well, as long as you aren't skipping entire chapters, that is.
I love re-reads! I especially enjoy when I catch things that I didn't the first time through. Sometimes, I like a story so much that I will read it again immediately. Six-Gun Snow White is the most recent one. And I think, that if I put in the time, it counts because that's time spent that I could have read something new. Since I chose to read something I like instead of something new, it shouldn't count against me.On the flip side, The Little Prince is my go-to book for all kinds of things. It gives me hope when I am sad, it reminds me what love is about, it teaches me about responsibility and friendship and loneliness ... I can't possibly keep track of all the times that I have re-read it, so I don't.
Really, it's your list. Do what you want and forget the rest. It's really only for your pleasure anyway. No prizes for reading 10 books or 10,000 except for the enjoyment itself.
I think re-reads are great, and they Totally Count.I actually just finished re-reading Magic Bites yesterday, and I was shocked at how much of the small stuff I had forgotten, but it has been years and a lot of books.
Charlotte, I am so glad you liked it, I think they are wonderful writers. I also hope that you do re-try Patricia Briggs because I think Mercy is also a strong female character.

As inspiration for my desire to do this as our first of the year challenge, I'm going to point a finger at Lynn and the realization that I too have been in a re-read mood. So, Lynn, this one is for you.
I've decided that we are really going to honour the god Janus, for whom January was named. He had 2 faces, one always looking back and one always looking forward so, I'm going to introduce the brand new challenge:

Basically, I decided that i was feeling lazy, and am looking forward to seeing my oldest grandson too much to put much thought into this right now. He's home from his first year in Stockholm--with 4 more years there in his contract--and, well, I want to go see him and maybe do a little grandma spoiling, ya know?
So, have fun, one and all.

Amy--remember, the only person you are competing with is yourself. Some of us (waves hand) have more time to read than others. (Which reminds me--drive carefully and defensively. Remember--the other drive IS out to get you. So be careful and stay out of car smashes.) So I have time to read a LOT and can get through more books than someone who is still working and has husband/kids at home.
