I have done this for several years but didn't follow the choices of the group. This looks to me like we are all just choosing the book ourselves. In that case - January - The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver
This year members will be able to choose any books in the genre, not just one particular title. This may help some of us reduce our TBR shelves, and it is a fun way to learn about other books and authors.
LindaH wrote: "Okay, I’ll try this but I may need help in February."I know what you mean, Linda. Romance and Chick Lit are probably my least favourite genres, with the possible exception of Westerns. I'll let you know if I come up with anything interesting!
If you look at the Guardian list of 1000 books under Love, you will find a list of classics, some of which definitely fit in the Romance category.
Good suggestion, Rosemarie. My least favorite too, Paula. I’ll be watching your February choice too.

I think I’ll give this a go as well this year! I’ve never really used goodreads before, but this group and challenge definitely seems like a good way to get back into reading. Can’t wait!
This looks like a great challenge. I'm determined this year to read lots of different books, and this will help make a dent in my never ending to read list
Welcome to our challenge, everyone.
Monthly threads will be posted for each genre.

Hi Everyone HAPPY NEW YEARS - what a nice way to start
Thinking of reading Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman - I believe it falls under the category for this month - please let me know if it does.

Hi. I’ve just joined this group and looking forward to powering through my extensive TBR books with these genres.
I see some members struggling with February - my favorite author Nora Roberts - the Bridal Quartet - Vision in White is an excellent choice -
Just finished Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine. My soul is at peace. It emphasized the meaning of friendship - and how everyone deserves to have a peace of mind and to feel loved.
An excellent read and I highly recommend this book. Besides being a page turner the ending took me completely by surprise.

Thanks to Rosemarie's suggestion that we should check out the Guardian's 1000 books for February's choice, I've found a romance I'm quite looking forward to reading (plus it's a mere 135 pages long): A Month in the Country by J.L. Carr
This is already sitting on my TBR shelf, so I'm ready to go! 😊
This group is a good place to do just that, Mariana. We have lots of fun challenges to get you reading again.
