Aussie Readers discussion

I have been approached by the author of The Spirit of Imagination, S.A. Tawks to see if I would be interested in participating in The Imagination Initiative (NSW).

I have said yes as I think it's a great idea, and asked her if I could post this thread to see if anyone in the Aussie Readers group is also interested.

The Imagination Initiative is simple. Having agreed to take part she sent me a hand-crafted hardcopy of The Spirit of Imagination (80 pages on A4 paper). Once the book has been read, the reader goes to the back of the book; there a space will be found for the reader to sign their name or pseudonym and record the date the novella was finished. The next stage is to send an email to the email address listed on the page. In the email all that has to be provided is name or pseudonym, postcode or suburb and the state of Australia that the reader lives in. This is so S.A. Tawks can plot the book’s journey on her website.

The last part requires the reader to give the copy to a family member, friend, work colleague, neighbour (or the next person on this list)...just anyone who enjoys reading fiction. It is then their chance to help the Imagination Initiative and continue the process.

Her intention is to have one book in each state and territory of Australia. She has one in the hands of someone in QLD and NSW (me) at the moment and she has one for Victoria waiting for someone to have.

She also told me that if there is anyone who lives in Vic, SA, WA, NT, ACT or Tas, she would be more than happy to allow them to be the first to possess the book in those states.

It is also most important that the novella is read fairly quickly (it's only 80 pages on A4 paper) so it can be forwarded on to the next person.

I have chosen the next person to read this delightful novella (my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...) and that is Julie; I'll be posting it on to her tomorrow:)

My idea is to have interested persons add their names here in this thread with their states (all the rest will be done by PM) and as the book is read, they'll be crossed off the list.

Once everyone on the list is crossed off, it'll be up to the last person to then contact their own friends or family to pass the book on..

I'll put my hand up for Victoria if no one else has beaten me to it. I've heard of similar projects with an artist's journals. Sounds like a very exciting idea.

Hello - thanks Veronica. Received the book Saturday. I won't be able to read today as I have a sick child who needs my attention. Hope to get it read tomorrow - who is next on the list?

We don't have anyone lined up Rachael ATM:) But Julie said she has a lot of friends and relatives who would love to read it, so if you PM her for her address, you could send it back to her. That is unless you have a friend or relative who would like to read it?

Sally that's great! If you PM Maxine who started the SA initiative, https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/2... you could ask her if she knows where the SA book is. She may still have it, or she may have family members or friends reading it. That way you can work out with her about you standing in line to read it:) Good luck! Actually, I just bought the book for my Kindle anyway, since it was so cheap! So if you already have plenty of South Aussies participating, I'll pass.
