Foreigner series by C J Cherryh. Starts withForeigner

Kangaroo series by Curtis C. Chen. The leadoff book Waypoint Kangaroo was nominated for the recently concluded Endeavour Awards (USA Pacific northwest). A couple fantasy books ended up winning the Endeavour in a tie, but this book to me looked like the best sci fi nominee. It's lighter than the dark, heavy, serious stuff this group seems to go for, but I thought I'd nominate it anyway.

We've read Dawn. great choice though, Xenogenesis is an excellent trilogy.

We've read Dauntless and Altered Carbon as well, but not as a series reads.

Cordelia------I know you havent been in the group as long as some others, but both Mark and I HATE Foreigner. I shouldnt speak for him, but I think thats what he would say!

We have a policy herere of letting people read what they want to, so you can leave it as a nom, but just know I for one will boycott it! LOL

I think I will nominate the Petrovich series by Simon Morden starting with Equations of Life

You can try asking around the buddy read section. I still need to finish Cyteen, it disturbed me more than I would have thought possible.

What's disturbing about Cyteen? I might like it. :D

Mind control, slavery, female sexual predator. These sound tame by today’s standards of horror, I read lots of horror, but she does it in such a way that’s hard to describe but easy to acknowledge as disturbing.

Sounds interesting (I mean very disturbing, excuse me)!

The good news? Were we to start that next month we would finish before 2020 ... unless Cherryh writes a few more in the meantime. But she's 75 now, so how likely is that?

Does it get better? I"m still trying to slog my way through book #1 in the series.

We could read the Hospital Station series. One of my favorites.

See, that's the odd thing about Cherryh-I LOVE her other stuff, but I found I couldn't even do ten minutes at a time of that slog.....I recently read The Company Wars stuff and enjoy it.

I love the first Chanur novel, but Foreigner is proving very tough going.

I loved her Faded Sun trilogy. and her standalone collection of stories, Sunfall. hmm, there's a certain serendipity in those titles.
