So, it is possible.
Another friend, who also writes novella length, write some of his work on his web site, but not full chapters and not the whole novella. That way people don't get the whole thing for free. But, with good scenes on the site, he generates interest in the whole story.
So, that's another angle.
And then there's me. I wrote my 3-book series as one book—666pages.Invasion That's the way I like books. I finally broke it into three, but it didn't help the sales any. I still think it reads better as a full-sized book.
Thanks, guys. My goal is to increase readership. I do get a lot of readers of my serious articles and stories on smashwords, but the novel is an effort to broaden my reach.
I'm not sure serialization is the way to go. Another marketing move I have been thinking about is making the book for free on Smashwords. I really do not care about the money, but sometimes I think no one takes the free books seriously, and Amazon is a big outlet and do not let you put a book up for free.
I could go on about my thoughts on Christian literature today, but I won't make many friends.

I put a lot of weight on that comment. Thanks, brother.
