I’m maria helena (or MH for short) and I’ll be your captain.

I live in Iceland and when I’m not busy working or reading a book, you can usually find me tinkering with a spreadsheet or writing lists. I read mostly crime novels, and I tend to start more series than I finish.

Uno is my all-time favourite challenge, and I’m so excited for this to start.

Hi everyone! I'm Laura, I live in Canada and I love UNO! This is my 4th year playing. I like to read mysteries, YA and historical fiction but will try anything. I'm happy to say my first book of 2018 was a 5 star read!! . This is going to be torture waiting for UNO to start.

Romance and Fantasy are my top genres to read but I do also enjoy Mystery/Thriller and some Sci-Fi.

We still have several weeks before the challenge starts, but I've put a summary of our cards for February in Post #6 in case anyone needs/wants to plan ahead, get books from the library etc.

We have a pretty good mix of cards.

The ones that need some extra planning to make sure we have covered are:
◈ 7 reverse (books someone else on the team has already read) - can be a bit tricky depending on how our reading preferences overlap
◈ 7 colour cards
◈ 2 wild draw 4 cards (duplicate 2 of the colour cards)

Uno is a good challenge to start with because it is fairly easy and straight-forward. I think most of us on this team have played it multiple times before, so if anything is confusing, just ask and we'll help to sort it out.

We all read at different speeds so that is nothing to worry about. All the teams are all a mix of faster and slower readers :)

Hi everyone! My name is Sharon and I'm one of your co-captains. I live in Northeast PA and during the day I work as a fundraiser for a science center. This is my first UNO challenge and I'm very excited!

I usually read mystery, thriller, fiction, chick-lit but really I am open to everything. I'm looking forward to discovering some new books and clearing some off my TBR through this challenge. And of course I'm most looking forward to making new friends in my teammates!!

Everyone has checked in and we are ready to go.

Looks like we have quite a varied group, both based on location and old and new players.

The best think about UNO, in my opinion, is that there is a lot of freedom in what books we read. Even though we need to fill specific cards (see the list in post #6) each card has lots of options.

I always use UNO as an excuse to try and work my way through my TBR list, but at the end of the challenges, I usually have added more books to it than I have gotten rid of :)

Currently, I 'm reading Harry Dresden and the Iron Druid Chronicles.

Laura, I just started the second Harry Dresden this morning! It's a reread for me, but I'm listening to the audio this time on my commute to and from work.

I tend to browse everyone's shelf and find something to read for a few of the reverse! If I can get that Lars Keplar new book we've got one covered! lol..

Its my first time reading the series. Proven Guilty is my next one. I wasn't sure at first whether I liked the series and the 2nd book was a bit gory & gruesome but I'm so glad I kept reading. Its definitely a favorite!
