Start the New Year Off Right Readathon (2018)
For sure, I will finish Prose and Cons, and Riochet Joe which is on my Kindle. Will probably start The Painted Queen.
- Finish The Picture of Dorian Gray- Start and finish Aarsrivalen, scheldkarbonades en terminale baden
- Start The Joy Luck Club
I am reading a bunch of books at once, and my goal is to finish Henderson the Rain King, Jane of Lantern Hill and Travels with Herodotus.
I also want to make progress on two big ones, Doctor Zhivago and Eclipse of the Sun, and one shorter book The Waverly Novels: The Betrothed.
I also want to start reading The Secret Agent and Agnes Grey, if my plans work out.
I am also reading three other books which I plan to finish during the month of January- The Aeneid, Rab and His Friends: And Other Dog Stories, and Winter: A Spiritual Biography of the Season.

Great idea! I am in. My goal was to have more fun, not rush through books. I set my reading goal a little lower this year. I am hoping to get Doctor Zhivago 3/4 finished.
I'm goanna work on The Rex and The Black for the next few days then when I am off, I'll grab some shorter ones.
This overlaps with a readathon I’m doing in another group - so I’m doing a lot of reading! Having just finished 2 classics, today I started The Doll's House for fun. After that I’ll read more books for some of the challenges.

I'm going to read as much of the Fitz & the Fool trilogy that I can. Each book is a doorstopper. Since I'm on vacation, I might be able to finish it before I go back to work next week. I'm almost halfway through Fool's Assassin now.
Jenny wrote: "Ah, ok. That's cool though! I take it that's your first language?"Yes although my mother tongue is Portuguese. But I’m more fluent in Dutch.
I'm hoping to:- Start The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson,
- Finish up The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan.
I've been on a real fantasy kick lately, so might as well continue the trend :)
Good luck everyone!
I’ve been doing masses of reading, finished The Doll's House early today then read all of The Picture of Dorian Gray. I love readathons!
Book 1- Deutschland, ein Wintermärchen by Heinrich Heine
This is an unplanned read. I wanted a short, fun read to start the readathon and this certainly fit the bill.

I just saw this and now I am very excited to read something else than academic texts for my study...:DI would like to finish Outlander and The Martian
And then start on either Pride and Prejudice or Shadow of Night
Book 2- The Aeneid by Virgil
This got bumped up to the top of the pile because the ending was very exciting.

Urp. How do I say this...I think I am the only male in this challenge. And all the other challenges I am in are almost entirely women. Not sure if that says more about men in general, or whether it means I should gracefully exit...
Michael, it is just a coincidence. Believe it or not, we do have male members in our group. I am extending a hearty invitation to you to participate in the readathon and in our many fun challenges.
Welcome!
Welcome!
Just saw this and can't wait to start. I'd like to finish Six of Crows, and The Earl and The Fairy (Vol. 2).I'd also like to read The Earl and The Fairy (Vol. 3 & 4), and Amazing Agent Jennifer.
Most of those are graphic novels, so they won't take me long.

Finished The Picture of Dorian Gray.
Started The Joy Luck Club (in Dutch); hope to read at least half of it (175 pages). Have to read some articles for work and have a couple of appointments so will probably only have time on saturday afternoon.
You are making great progress, Susy.
I read The Joy Luck Club when it was first published and remember the older ladies playing Mah Jong. I hope you enjoy it.

Thank you Rosemarie!
I finshed a few short stories by Edith Wharton- The Bolted Door and His Fathers Son. Both were pretty good.
I finished The Trophy Child - Paula Daly. Really enjoyed it, though was slightly disappointed by the way it ended. Also read The Gift of the Magi - O. Henry as it was recommended here.
Allison wrote: "Finished the first book in my trilogy, Fool's Assassin. Enjoyed it a lot - onto book 2!"How nice to read & enjoy a book knowing there are more to follow it.
Finally actually finished my first book for the readathon. A perfect place a book in the Dear America series
I made my 75 percent goal on Doctor Zhivago. I would like to finish it by the time the read a thon ends.

It's a new year and that means time for resolutions! Was one of your resolutions to read more books? Or maybe to read longer books? Maybe to get to those books on the must read lists? Or maybe, like me, you have mounds of books you bought and put off reading?
We have a readathon for all that! Whatever your goal is, come join in this week long readathon! Starting when the clock strikes midnight on the 7th, it will run through the 13th!
Let us know what you are planning to read, what you actually did read, and cheer everyone on! Most importantly, have fun!
