Nita (The Lazy Reviewer) | 5 comments Spoilers ahead: hi so I have been looking for this book for a while and hope someone can help :)
I read it a few years ago at my school library
I remember that the cover was of a dark haired girl with I think a burning city as a background but not a 100% on the background, I also think the title starts with a K, I thought it was Kerry or an abrieviation of that name for a while but couldnt find anything so I assume I was wrong
The book cover and style was pretty dated so I asssume a pre-2000 publish date
I also think this was a sequel to another book: I’m pretty sure in the prequel the main female character is evacuated abroad and tries to go home for some reason but not too sure
Plot:
I think her grandfather dies in an air raid
She befriends an Italian family who are suffering as a result of their heritage they own a shop or a restaurant, at some point I’m pretty sure the shop is vandalised and she suggests that they put a display on shop front of medals won by a male in the family in ww1
One of her female friends marries into the family and she helps make a wedding dress out of parachute material or something
I think she also befriends an American doctor/surgeon
At some point an old manor or something gets turned into a hospital and she is trained as a nurse
I remember the ending pretty well: they have a new patient she looks down and realises it’s the boy she’s in love with ( pretty sure he is in the first book) and she freaks out so someone has to take over. When he wakes up and sees her he thinks he’s died, he says something about being in heaven or her being an angel and that’s it

Can’t really remember much else but if I do I will update post

NM, what's the location - country, region, big city/small town?

Can you tell us more about the heroine - her age, job/skills/interests, personality, etc.?

Sorry I forgot to say it was set in the UK, I think London but no 100% sure, the heroine was pretty young late teens if I remember correctly :)
she worked somewhere else before informally training as a nurse, that where she met her female friend that married into the Italian family previously mentioned, but I can't really remember.
Also I think maybe her name was Kelly, I keep being drawn to K names, but again not 100% sure.

No, unfortunately, its not this one, the book is mainly focused around the one heroine and is the second in a two-part series. Thanks anyways though :)

Nita (The Lazy Reviewer) | 5 comments I remember something else about the cover: the girl on the cover wasn't like ones you see nowadays like proper photographic quality, it was more like a really good drawing/painting style
