MissSusie | 2425 comments I'm not sure where to post this but I just heard the devastating news that Katherine Kellgren has passed away from a very aggressive cancer she had been battling awhile. She was the voice of Jackie Faber & Lady Georgianna 2 of my go to when I am feeling blue books so this is hitting me hard I can't imagine the Her Royal Spyness Series without her.

Here is her husbands statement and link
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb...

I am very sad to let Katy Kellgren’s friends, colleagues and fans know that she passed away last night at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York. She had been deep asleep, while still fighting, for more than two days, but it was time to go. Her mother, Alice Kjellgren, and I said goodbye and told her that we love her. She was visited by her pastor, Rev. Dr. Scott Black Johnston of Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church. On her last day, I read poetry and played music and audio that she loved.

As you may or may not know, Katy had been battling a rare and aggressive cancer for nearly four years, and 2017 was particularly hard. The fall brought major setbacks and I will just say that Katy does not have to suffer anymore. Nevertheless, in the past year she was able to work, travel, enjoy art and be the greatest friend and partner a person could dream of having.

Whether you knew her personally, worked with her, or enjoyed her brilliant performances in audiobooks, Katy loved you all and felt your love. Her life was full of beauty and was beautiful. She stood for books, art, theater, poetry, and kindness. Her artistry delighted countless numbers of people. We will all miss her very badly, but we can hear her voice everywhere, at any time.

Jeanie | 4024 comments Oh, thank yiu for posting this, but I am heartbroken. While I know her family bears the greatest loss and I have the deepest sympathies for them, I feel that I have also lost someone important to me. She has provided so much joy and entertainment with her narrations--Royal spyness, Kane Chronicles, Incorrigible Choldren of Ashton Place, Jackie faber, and many many more. Her name always makes my list of favorite narrators. I will treasure the books she has narrated and deeply mourn her loss.

Tracey (stewartry) | 196 comments Terrible news - thank you for letting us know, Miss Susie. She elevated Connie Willis's Blackout and All Clear from great books to superlative audiobooks ... at least we her fans have her voice forever. My heart goes out to her family - I hope they know how much she and her wonderful voice are loved.

Robin P | 1747 comments I've loved everything I've listened to by her! She reads many parts for young characters so it never dawned on me that she wouldn't be around a long time. I hope she and Frank Muller are having a good conversation in the next life.

Dave In Hollywood | 93 comments I received a note from Scott Brick on Facebook that Katy Kellgren had died. I spent some time trying to prove to myself that it wasn't the same Katherine Kellgren. It seems so wrong to lose her when she was so young, particularly when Jackie Faber could get out of any sort of situation. She will be sorely missed by me.

message 21: by Kathleen (new)

Kathleen Heidenreich | 1 comments I learned yesterday of Katherine Kellgren's passing and was saddened - felt as if I had lost a close friend. I became acquainted with her audio talent through the Bloody Jack series. Jacky Faber et al. came alive for me through Katy Kellgren - she was a wonderfully talented woman who will be missed. My goal now is to listen to every book she narrated!
