The Underworld discussion

Ruby lays in one of the beds, groaning from a pounding headache. Usually she knew better than to drink enough to get a hangover, but she had been careless last night. Although she probably is well enough to stand and walk, Ruby just lays there until she realizes she isn't in her room, and there is someone standing next to her.

Jennifer, aka Dolly or the Sister, was simply there to make sure the girl was well. Melanie generally did this kind of stuff, but she was busy with other things, and that was fine. Dolly hid her ears and her tail as to not immediately freak the girl out, as she often learned that showing those right away led to either a frightened newbie or a distraction. "You're awake," she stated with a smile. "I was afraid you'd sleep for the rest of the day, Ruby. You're fine with being called Ruby, right?"

"It's my name. Although, I am not fine with waking up in someone else's bed. Even drunk I'm not that kind of person." She sits up, rubbing her head.

Dolly gave a little chuckle at that. "Careful not to get up too quickly, you were quite intoxicated when they brought you down here." She tucked some hair behind her ear. "You must be a little confused as to where you are."

"Well, obviously." Ruby stands anyways, leaning against the bed. "And where is here, exactly?"

"You're in what we call the Underworld. Where you used to live is the Surface, but one of the council has decided that you would be a good addition to our cause down here," Dolly answered. "This would be the clinic."

"Well, thanks for thinking I'd be good, but no thanks." Ruby tries to walk to the door.

"Wait, please," Dolly spoke up to stop her, voice commanding, yet still delicate, "I can't let you leave this place... not without some serious repercussions. Can I at least explain things to you? Convince you to stay somehow?"

"Fine. Whatever." Ruby sighed, shooting one of her characteristic glares at the girl.

Dolly flinched ever so slightly at the glare. Not a lot of people got mad at her or stared at her in such a way. It put a lot of pressure on her all at once, and she took in a shaky breath to get her thoughts straight. "Our cause is simple. We're going to rule the world someday, and in order to do that, we're recruiting the people we find fit best with that. The Father is the man in charge of it all, and he is a genius without comparison." Her eyes flashed yellow and her fox ears and tail came into view. "He creates our enhancements, gives us exactly what we want, and all he expects in return is loyalty. And unfortunately, if you're not with us, you're automatically against us... and I really don't want that." Dolly paused, giving the girl a chance to speak. She hadn't been informed on this girl's personality, so she had no clue how she was going to react.

"Thanks for the history lesson, but I have a life to get back to." Ruby rolls her eyes.

"N-not really," Dolly bit her lip. "Remember how I said repercussions? Well, if you're automatically against us, we... we can't exactly let you back up on the Surface knowing about this place..." There had to be a reason the council picked this girl, so there has to be something that could convince her to stay. Dolly really disliked having to inform Adrian that someone was being stubborn on not being part of the Underworld. "Please reconsider... isn't there anything that you've always wanted to be? Or a feeling of power you've wanted to obtain?"

"Not really. Unless you count going to the Olympics. Speaking of which, I like to see those repercussions catch me." Ruby had recovered enough to run if she needed to.

Dolly held up her hands. "There's no need to bolt for the door, don't worry... we're not complete animals down here... well, metaphorically speaking, at least." She was an animal, technically, a fox, actually. "What exactly is there on the Surface that's better than down here? Who do you have to get back to so quickly?" she tried. Having been informed of her family situation, Dolly wondered if maybe this could be of help. Her expression turned sad and very much serious. "I am asking you to reconsider for your sake."

"My sake? Who gives a crap about my sake?" Ruby is a bit still intoxicated.

"You're absolutely right," said Adrian, from the side of the room. He'd been there for a while now. "Which is why, should you decide to leave, I will kill you."

"It's that simple, Ruby." He smiled, kicking off the wall and running a hand through his perfect hair. His earlier encounter with Stiles had left him in a foul mood and he was in no mind to be persuading stubborn girls of what was truly right. If she wanted to continue being blind to the world's issues, so be it.

"Yes, because a perfect world includes killing people who actually have a life." Ruby rolls her eyes and pushes past the man. "I have a party today, and it would be rude to not show up. Maybe I can help... Later." She smirks, unfazed by his threat

Dolly hadn't even seen Adrian come in and she immediately gave a little bow of her head and smiled. "Hello Father." She could tell his mood was not as light as it usually was, as was obvious through his blunt attitude. She really didn't want to see this girl killed and hoped to whatever there was out there that Ruby would come to her senses.

But then the girl decided to get snarky. She shook her head and wanted to say something, but she had a feeling this girl wouldn't understand what she was doing until Adrian made it absolutely clear who she was dealing with.

Adrian laughed. "And how would you get out? You're in a big fucking prison, little girl."

He clicked his fingers and the door to the Clinic closed her in. He brushed off his suit where she'd bumped him, and cocked his head to the side. "Say goodbye to your old life, this is your life now. Make new friends. And learn your place before I put you in it." He was slowly losing patience, already pissed off. She had one chance and then that was it; she was going to the prisons.

Ruby growls, fire in her eyes. She flips her curled hair over her shoulder. When she speaks, she using the power of the siren, although doesn't know. It isn't very powerful, however. "I am going to leave, and you are going to let me. I am not going to have my life taken from me by some asshole!"

"Your entire life has been a lie," said Adrian bluntly, "Everyone you thought who loved you, didn't. This, down here, is reality. Forget your old life, or you'll perish with the rest of them."

He shrugged. "Never mind, Sister, if the girl refuses to listen to reason, she can sit in the cells until she does. Listen to the screams. She can waste her own potential if she wishes, I do not care. There are a billion other perfectly able people out there who can replace her." He didn't really believe that of course - Adrian didn't think anyone could be replaced but nevertheless, she wasn't needed in his eyes.

Powers of influence didn't work on Adrian. Sirens and succubi alike had zero effect on someone who believed himself to be nothing short of a god. Overconfident? Perhaps. But a genius nonetheless.

Ruby snarls, but the way this man was acting wasn't a fluke, a trick. She may be hungover, but she still had most of her senses. "I almost am considering believing you. Except for that part where no one cared-" She laughed coldly. "You didn't have to tell me that. I knew it already."

Dolly nodded, but of course she would try to avoid conflict, try to get this girl to stop while she was ahead. "Ruby, please... I don't want to have to call the guards up here to take you down to the cells... it's not a place you want to be." She slumped her shoulders a little, a worried expression in place. Adrian was in no mood to mess around, and he was serious. She would stay in those cells as long as it was deemed necessary. That could end up being forever, if she kept up the stubborn attitude. And he wouldn't hesitate to kill her, be it Adrian wanted it so. She'd seen it before, and it was not a sight she wanted to see again.

Ruby rolls her eyes as she walks back to the bed and sits. Standing for as long as she did, she was feeling the effects of the alcohol. "Fine."

Dolly let out a sigh of relief as the girl used her sense and listened. She smiled, although it was a little forced. "Trust me, I'm sure once you get to be used to this place, you won't know why you even tried to say no..." She wrung her hands together. "I'm always here to talk to, or you can ask me any questions and I can probably answer them for you..."

Ruby rolls her eyes again. "Whatever."

Adrian rolled his eyes. It had been stubbornness, nothing more. He smiled reassuringly at Dolly, and dropped a file on top of Melanie's desk. "If Mel comes by, tell her I've returned from my trip. We're having a meeting tomorrow Dolly, I think we're having a clean out of the cells. We have far to many prisoners of war down there."

He turned and sauntered out.

Dolly nodded at Adrian before he walked out, then sat down on the stool. "So... that is Father, Adrian to some, the mastermind of operations. He's the boss and the leader of the Council." She then realized she didn't introduce herself. "Oh, and I'm Sister, or you can call me Dolly if you'd like. I'm supposed to make sure we don't have any major problems down here, interpersonal problems, at least. We also have Mother, Aunt, and Brother, although Mother hasn't quite been decided yet, I don't think. Aunt is Melanie, and she's in charge of making sure everyone is well, although she tends to do so much more. Brother is Daemon, and he's quite the character sometimes. He is in charge of warfare and the like." She explained with energy that made her words seem extremely casual, as if she were talking to Ruby as friends.

Ruby yawns, only half-listening. She didn't want to agree to stay, but she could tell that the man, Adrian, had meant it when he said she would be killed.

Dolly's ears twitched as she paused, looking over at Ruby as she yawned. "Are you tired? Would you like me to show you where you'll reside? We'll have to find Aunt Melanie first, as she's in charge of that kind of stuff."

"Whatever." Ruby was truly miffed that she wasn't going to be able to attend the party. She had been working for weeks to end up in the same place as a certain boy, and now it was all for nothing. Ruby stretched her back out, her mouth curved slightly downward.

Ruby crosses her arms with a smirk at the girl.

Dolly could tell this girl was unhappy, and that just wouldn't do. "You said you had a party to go to, right?" she inquired, cocking her head to the side. "What time is it supposed to start? Tell you what, if you promise not to reveal anything about this place, I can get you up to the Surface and to that party tonight... but it will have to be one of the last parties for a while until we can get you fully situated down here. Deal?"

Ruby finally brightens. Maybe this girl wasn't so bad after all. "Fine. It's a deal."

Dolly clapped her hands together and smiled. "But there is one thing I'm going to have to do, and that's go to the Surface with you. I won't be a bother, but it's just a safety thing. You're still new and all." She hadn't been to the Surface in a long time, and this could turn out to be really fun. She'd of course have to make sure it was okay with Adrian if she could leave, but she didn't necessarily see how it would be a problem. She hoped it wouldn't be.

"Great." She stands. "I'll try not to get as drunk."

Dolly felt so much better now that Ruby wasn't acting like a teenager who'd just gotten scolded. "It's still mid-day up on the Surface, so we still have quite a bit of time before your party, I'm sure." She had a natural sense of time with her enhancement. "In the mean time, we really should find the Aunt and have her give us your room. Maybe we can talk to her about your enhancement as well... if you want one of course. No one's going to force that on you."

"Depends on my options." Tyler rolls her neck, frowning slightly.

"A genius like the Father can work wonders. Not much is out of our reach, if anything at all..." Dolly had seen many things from her own enhancement, to robotics, to vampirism, to mind control.

"Something... With singing, then."

Ruby stands, having regained her stability. She still had a pounding headache, but she honestly didn't care.

"Oh, so you're a singer! That's kinda cool. I'm not exactly the best." Dolly stood and put a hand on Ruby's shoulder. "Just let me know if you need to sit down or something... you were pretty far gone when you came down here." And then she began to walk, leaving the clinic to go find Melanie with the girl.

Ruby follows while trying to piece together what had happened last night. She runs a hand through her disheveled, curly hair. "Why exactly was I brought here? I mean..." She yawns. "Why was I chosen?"
