Was anyone else confused during the first few chapters? Or is it just because I waited a long time between reading The Gift and reading this one?

I completely agree. I've personality found this series has become very messed up and is dragging on for way to long.

The beginning was a bit random like the authors didn't know what to write and just came up with the plague, but personally I thought the ending was really confusing.
