yes, rope will work too. Of course, rope is also good for the ROPE task.

I would think that any depiction of blacksmith tools (anvil, tongs, bellows ...) might qualify as "historical" hardware items.

I have the most difficult time with book cover content challenges, so am glad to help, and delighted for this thread to exist when I am stumped later this year!
For another book with a gun on the cover:
The one that worries me is "Read a book showing any type of large, glass structure on the front" - I haven't seen anything yet that fills the bill.

Moriarty Meets His Match by Anna Castle in Kindle. It is free today and I downloaded it. I think this suits 'book showing any type of large, glass structure on the front'.

I wonder if a book I read recently fits the description - "large, glass structure" is vague enough that this might work:
