Screw the parameters! The closest thing to setting one that I'm going to get is to clear out some of my ancient TBRs. I'm attempting the PopSugar reading challenge again this year, as well as the Goodreads Challenge, so this fits in nicely!

Ok, I finished the first book that made me want to call most of my friends and shriek "You have to read this!"The Lightning-Struck Heart by T.J. Klune was recommended by one of my favorite authors, Miss Gail Carriger. I'd been putting off reading it (don't know why, Miss Gail's recommendations are usually awesome), but was home on a snow day and my Kindle was the closest thing within reach. This one won't appeal to everyone, but if you like epic type fantasies with snark & sass combined with loveable (mostly) characters and a quest to rescue an obnoxious Prince, you'll love it. The majority of the characters are gay (not a problem for me) and there is some explicit sex toward the end, but it doesn't ruin the story. I laughed until my sides ached (And I scared my cats) and cried when it looked like the hero's heart was going to be truly broken, but it ended somewhat happily. Ok, so that was a slight spoiler. Sorry, not sorry.
So much for planning to read things. I've pretty much given up on official challenges beyond the Goodreads challenge. I set my goal for 500 and I'm up to 372. Not much of it has been deep reading, and quite a few are re-reads, but f-it! It's what I was in the mood to read. The following are some of my favorites so far this year:
Madame Cat #1 by Nancy Peña
Trust Me by Hank Phillippi Ryan
Scribbles in the Margins by Daniel Gray
Taste of Wrath by Matt Wallace (this is the end of a series, and you really need to read them in order. It was, however, a most satisfying end to the series)
Murder, Magic, and What We Wore by Kelly Jones
