What A Bargain
This is what prompted me to start this thread. Tech's favourite record company have a Jan sale (CDs, vinyl, books) on their webshop:https://www.cherryred.co.uk/shop/sale...
That page took so long to load (my ropey internet most like) that I got bored and sidetracked by something far more interesting, of which more on the new releases thread. 😀
I'm considering buying ... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Best-Elbow/d...
... for my first Elbow CD. If anyone comes across it 'New' at any cheaper than £9.99 in the next week or so then I'd be extremely grateful if they would post me up a link on here ... Cheers! ;o>
Not if I use an option on an Amazon Prime Free Trial or also buy some other stuff that I have had hanging around in my Basket for a while now ;o>I thought I had found it cheaper at Tesco but it turned out to be the non Deluxe version which only has one CD instead of the two CDs in the Deluxe edition.

Suzy, I find 123PriceCheck.com very useful for keeping an eye on stuff. :-)
In this case, searching for 'best of deluxe' brought up a more expensive price for some unknown reason, but a straight 'best of' got it right.
suzy - re elbow, saw it in tesco for £7https://www.tesco.com/direct/elbow-th...
helen, you call it what you want! i'm too busy being bald, tubby and dread to get involved in pedantry! :)
tim - still looking for the 'something more interesting' - all i can see is some nonsense about king crimson and curved air! :)

That's the single disc edition, tech. Suzy wants the deluxe, which has a blue background. See my pricecheck link :-)
No Crimso from me! There was Chris Squire - the late bass player with Yes.
oh, i see - sometimes reading things can be helpful, and potentially can make one look less stupid! :)"the late bass player with Yes" - wasn't late enough! boom! :)
Tim wrote: "Suzy, I find 123PriceCheck.com very useful for keeping an eye on stuff. :-)"Ohhh, cheers for that link, Tim - I've not heard of that Site before ;o>
Tech wrote: "oh, i see - sometimes reading things can be helpful, and potentially can make one look less stupid! :)"I often get like that myself, Poppet - but bless you for trying for me.
I don't think that I'll better Amazon on price unless a real bargain turns up on eBay, but you never know, and I'm in no real hurry for the CDs at the moment - it is just something that I've decided to treat myself to in the next week or so ;o>
You know what, Lez, I think you're right! There is a Mint 'played once' for Auction on eBay but it is already up to £7.50, and there are still 3 days left to go on it, and the next one up is selling for £12.15 ... so I'm going to buy it at £9.99 from Amazon ;o>
serious bargain (if you like dub anyway!),https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dub-Expressi...%
out 9 feb, believe me this will quickly revert to £20 odd very soon. could be due to fact it was included as part of the recently issued https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dubb-Everlas...
Not Dark Yet - Shelby Lynne & Alison Moorer's covers album on vinyl, cheaper than the cd at £7.49 plus post from allyourmusic seller.https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B071FVWCF...
Transmissions Oblivion - Last Great Dreamers. Maximum Volume said… 'Full of glam stomp, rock sheen, a chorus to die for and a hook big enough to stick your coat on." Pure Rawk said… "the sound of a band taking their 70s glam influence & putting a good 21st century spin on it to drag it kicking & screaming into the current era". Saw them last year in a great support slot to Quireboys.New sealed vinyl for £3.50 plus £1.25 delivery from ebay seller - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Last-Great...

For anyone who likes Bill Nelson (or think they might, but don't want to pay full price for an album to find out) a number of his albums are available for £5 plus p&p here:https://www.billnelson.com/store
Some examples:
Mazda Kaleidoscope is a quite jazzy instrumental guitar album.
Golden melodies of Tomorrow is a quirky, sometimes whimsical psychedelic pop album with vocals.
Non-Stop Mystery Action is a semi-ambient album with long tracks, the only 'vocals' being radio and tv samples.
Model Village is an instrumental album of synth 'orchestral' pieces.
Has anyone used Spin CDs lately? (Grateful Dead fans) and got what they ordered on time.Since last December they have had a 20% off everything sale then don't ship your orders.I have just contacted my bank to get my money back as they don't reply to e-mails or answer the phone. They used to be reliable.Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!
If you Google them you will find listings for so many sites full of so many complaints about them, KJS, and their rating as a company on ...https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www....
... although based on just 50 Reviews to date is a only just a terrible one star. Reading through it sounds like it is all down to the same issues that you have experienced through ordering from them ;o<
Deleted my previous post as I realise I was thinking about a different shop entirely. So, not used Spin at all to the best of my knowledge.
bleedin' grateful dead fans! brief moments of lucidity reveal that their arse and elbow are indeed strangers! :)

Not sure if this is a real bargain? - but it sounds like it to me ...'The Complete Studio Albums Collection Box set' - Leonard Cohen

it's a bargain supposing it was a hundred poonds! i should really pick one up for the couple of holes in my leonard.
Tech, if you’re being serious, I could probably fill the holes in your Leonard! Or do you prefer the complete physical CD ?Edit: because of the small ‘l’, I briefly read it as leotard. Aarrggh!
oh, i know them all, les, just short, among the many formats of 3, but i've a mind to pick up the box for the sake of tidiness. thanks anyhoo! :)

Okay, maybe not a bargain, but now and again you see a seller on eBay and you want to buy everything he/she has on offer. This seller has my dream library on offer (all on CD). Postage was cheap for me, maybe not for you - but, oh, those boxed/book sets are so tempting! And they're all really good pressings. I could happily live with nearly all his 525 offerings.steveswr53

I snapped up the Steve Goodman anthology for half the price Zon want for it, even before shipping
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Big-Surprise...
and the first three Dr Hook albums (on 2 CDs) which I can't even find on Zon.uk
Well done that man! I think I searched on Dr Hook and the Medicine Show and Zon couldn't cope with that. However, I'm glad to say I paid less than even their cheapest offer!

Seller on ebay has new & sealed Laughin' Len boxes for £19.99 inc post or best offer. I offered £17.50 and it was accepted. Kicking myself that I didn't start at £15 (and that I actually made an offer - what was I thinking?!!!)!

Val wrote: "Well done that man! I think I searched on Dr Hook and the Medicine Show and Zon couldn't cope with that. However, I'm glad to say I paid less than even their cheapest offer!"The longer the search term, the less likely you are to find what you want. I often see students putting in actual prose questions eg 'What albums are available by Dr Hook?' and they complain when they get something altogether irrelevant and useless (but STILL use it/copy from it because, well, computers are intelligent and infallible aren't they?). Dr Hook was all I put in.

I forgot to say thank you to you, Mr B ... x x x
I put this in my Amazon Basket and then left it there until I saw your Post. I love a Bargain myself but thought fair's fair on this for everyone and so, based on your successful bid, I offered £17 and got accepted.
It arrived within just a couple of days and came so well-packaged that you would have thought it was the crown jewels that were inside - and I'm absolutely delighted with it and so thank you very much, Mr B! ;o>
Should have posted this sooner, but I forgot! Doh.Gizeh Records are trying out a "pay-what-you-want" model for their digital back catalogue on Bandcamp. Doesn't include new releases. A mix of genres. Not sure when the trial period ends, maybe the end of this month.

Not 'alf. In a jiffy bag inside a sturdy box with two types of sticky tape by the half-mile which I always painstakingly remove so the cardboard can go in the recycle box .... I'd worn meself out by the time it came to removing the shrink-wrap! You should've offered £15, dying to see what their line in the sand is.
And I also got a free eBay packaging envelope out of all the packaging too - that I can reuse as it doesn't look like it has been used and the seal tape has still been left on it ;o>I just couldn't bring myself to bargain any lower - even though they could of simply said no. I would have done once but I never know just exactly how serious the 'make me an offer' Sellers actually really are to be honest?
I have made offers many times for literally just a few pence less and been turned down, which is absolutely fine by me, but does beg the question as to why bother with listing it as though any less than a full price offer might be accepted.
However I once made an offer of £7.50 on a £8 Listing and unexpectedly got such an abusive Email that was full of lines of exclamation marks and ranting on about did I not think about just how much it also cost her for p&p and saying how dare I offer her such a pathetic sum of money ... and that really did shock and upset me. In fact I still feel a bit sick just in thinking about it now.
I very politely replied that she should not have listed it as a 'make me an offer' item if she didn't want for people to take her at her word and to do so and also told her that, based on her offensive response, I had decided to pay more than her full price now and buy from another Seller instead.
It very sadly has put me off from a lot of the fun to be had from bargaining and it has made me very wary of risking creating any offence. I suppose I should of reported to eBay, but I didn't, and I do regret that now because the furious nature of the response was quite extraordinary and completely unnecessary ;o<
I thought about how much others were asking for the CD and what you had offered and felt that to take it any lower would be pushing it too far - but I must admit I am also curious to know just how low they would have gone on it as well now? ;o>
Maybe it's all in the wording of an offer message? I use a short and very passive; 'Is £x any good to you?' You'd be surprised how often it works.
Possibly? - I do think though that some Sellers do it purely just to entice but don't really intend to deliver on the idea of accepting any less?I always send a little message and make a point of saying thank you too if they do agree.
No, I mean even if it doesn't invite offers I still make 'em! The wording usually means they either accept or ignore, I don't get many shirty huffy comeback messages.Eee, but I'm tight!

Anyway, here is a place to post links to any music related bargains you may have spotted.
