What books are you looking forward to reading this year? Could be new releases for 2018 or could be older books that are new to you.

Isabella Troxell (isabelredfox) | 19 comments I’m looking forward to Escaping from Houdini by Kerri Maniscalco and Lockdown by Laurie R. King the most right now.

Of course, I'm looking forward to Laurie's "Island of the Mad," and to the new Preston and Child Pendergast book, which just arrived in my mailbox ("City of Endless Night"). Of course I follow so many series that I could go on and on...Rhys Bowen's new "Lady Georgie" book...Deanna Raybourn's new Veronica Speedwell...

Ana Brazil (panab) | 43 comments I'm also looking forward to Deanna Raybourn's new Veronica Speedwell (I think it came out this week?)... and Jeri Westerson's Season of Blood; and Jamie Harrison's The Widow Nash (I loved her Jules Clement series!) and Erika Mailman's The Murderer's Maid.

Emily | 341 comments I'm impressed by those of you who actually know what new books will be coming out... keeping track of Laurie's are all I manage! (And, yay, a new R&H!)

I want to read Kim in response to The Game; How to be a Victorian; the latest by Hilary Mantel, Tana French, and Laura Lippmann (I'm behind); the Dandy Gilver mysteries; Amitav Ghosh's Opium Wars trilogy; and a Raffles book.

Also several that will be interesting if probably depressing: Strangers in their own Land, White Rage, Imbeciles, Another Day in the Death of America.

I think the three books I'm most stoked about this year are Laurie's Island of the Mad, Tempests and Slaughter by Tamora Pierce (she hasn't had a new one out in a few years!) and Magic Triumphs by Ilona Andrews (the last in her Kate Daniels series).

And then there are a whole bunch that I have on pre-order.

Mkotch I'm looking forward to Jacqueline Winspear's new Maisie Dobbs story, coming at the end of March; Elly Griffiths' new Ruth Galloway in May; and the definitely not cozy Kelley Armstrong's new Casey Duncan thriller.

Thanks for the reminder to post review of the most excellent TREACHEROUS CURSE, which I was not allowed to do earlier.
Waiting for Maisie with bated breath. <3

Dena | 84 comments In addition to Laurie R. King's new R&S, on my list (well, hundreds on my list but awaiting publication) are To Die but Once by Jacqueline Winspear and The Grave's a Fine and Private Place (Flavia de Luce) by Alan Bradley. Sadly, there will be no Z is for Zero, Sue Grafton, RIP.

Ellen | 56 comments The three preorders on my list have all been mentioned - Island of the Mad, the new Lady Georgie, and the new Flavia de Luce. Every year I create a new bookshelf on my Nook called "To Read in 20xx" and in the three years I've done it, I haven't been very good about actually reading those books! But I'm determined to do better this year. I'm currently reading The Alienist, and I have some classics that I've never gotten around to on my list as well.

Oh, forgot to mention that Sabrina's first Ravenwood book, From the Ashes, is coming out on audio! Pretty excited to listen to that!

message 12: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 399 comments I keep a running list of new releases for the year by month. I just posted on my reading blog what new releases in February that I've either read, am reading, or will be reading. February has been a great month for new books, and one of my biggest scores was an ARC of The Dark Angel (Ruth Galloway #10) by Elly Griffiths. I'm way behind, but still enjoying all the greats reads. I'll get together a list for the rest of the year for the ones I'm most looking forward to, and, of course, that will include Laurie's Island of the Mad. Here's my February list:
