Hello everyone!

It's getting to be that time again where we vote on next month's read!

The rules are as follows:
1. Every member may nominate 1 previous winner excluding the ones that we've read previously (see the list below)
2. Every member may second (or upvote) 2 other nominations by other members
3. If someone has already nominated a book you want to read, give it 1 of your 2 upvotes instead of saying "I nominate x"

The book with the most votes by January 25th at midnight PST will be the February pick! I'm trying to get the voting done a bit earlier in the month so that people have time to acquire the book before the new month starts.

In the past we have read the following books which are NOT eligible for February:
-The Luminaries
-The Line of Beauty
-The Blind Assassin
-The God of Small Things
-The Narrow Road to the Deep North
-A Brief History of Seven Killings (2015 winner)
-The Sellout (2016 winner)
-The Sense of an Ending
-Hotel du Lac
-Midnight's Children
-The Remains of the Day
-Lincoln in the Bardo (2017 winner)
-Possession
-The Bone People
-Wolf Hall

Also remember that February is the last month for a while where we will be voting on a book since March begins the Man Booker International Prize 2018!

Not sure if I added this up correctly, but with not long to go in voting it looks like a 3-way tie for The Sea, English Patient, and The White Tiger with 8 votes..,.. Again... I may be wrong.

Some of the comments make it difficult to understand if people are nominating or making a "second." With what I've recorded, I see White Tiger, The English Patient, and The Sea, in that order, with only two votes separating the first and third places. However, I'm not a moderator. It's up to our fearless leaders to draw the conclusions. I only keep track for myself so I can order the book that seems to be getting the most votes (my library often doesn't have a copy for me to borrow). But then, I may get a surprise, and that's nice too!

Everyone still has until the end of day on the 25th to vote.

Yep. This is why I’m keeping (or at least attempting to) score, so I have time to order and get the book delivered. Mild impatience on my end. But I’m in Australia and things take a while to get delivered down here towards the end of the Earth. Still loving January’s selection
