IceWing / SandWing Border
Having decided it'd be better to not stand around in the chilly air waiting for whatever danger might lurk, Sunstone went on her way. Heading toward the nearest Kingdom-which was either one.
SandWings or IceWings... What a funny choice! Both have scales that give off either hot or cold... Bouncing among the covering of snow, the sand below freezing cold from the ice layering it, the dragoness stopped and stared at a small spark of light. The sun's rays was obviously catching on something... But what?
Curiosity overtook Sunstone's former feelings of tiredness and replaced them with a spark of enthusiasm. Though her movements and expression was still cautious and calm, her eyes had brightened considerably.
Unfurling her huge wings and letting them turn to a bright yellow-a blending of gold and orange just barely seen in the scales-Sunstone began to head towards the beacon.

Drifting along a gentle breeze, she pressed her wings back to her sides as she landed carefully. Burgundy spikes and horns, arctic blue/white scales, soft yellow undersides with wings roughly the size of a SkyWing. She certainly was a... Combination of sorts.
Yet, Sun was completely-and I mean, completely-oblivious to this fact as she began to trot over to what could now be seen as a fellow dragon.
Stopping a few feet from the other, she was surprised to find a somewhat-hostile looking IceWing. "Hello?" She mouthed soundlessly.

Perking up, Sunstone was relieved to find this stranger to be more friendly.
My name is Sunstone!
She mouthed, settling down and sweeping her tail around so that it'd cover her lake blue talons.
Studying the other for a moment, Sun had never been up close to a full blooded IceWing before. While her scales were less sharp looking and her features more soft, the others was harsh yet they did hold a certain charm that could easily win a few glances. White shining scales and an air about this male told Sunstone-clearly-that he was used to attention. While this didn't bother her, it did remind her of her own shyness.

Two princes, great-you're just meeting everyone today... Smiling, she was surprised to find his talons to be colder than hers. While Sun was much cooler than the usual dragon, IceWings were freezing.
Jade Mountain, she replied simply, nodding to the direction the mountains were. Pulling her claws away, slow enough to be polite but fast enough to avoid Quilo's icy talons.
And you?

Oh, right.. His aunt would be Queen Iceflake... That's her name-right? Shrugging it off, Sunstone nodded in fake understanding. She didn't know her parents... They'd died, presumably, and had left her in the claws of the Talons of Peace. Whom she'd recently escaped from!
Turning to study her bruised shoulder, the traces of a few scratches could be seen at the base of wing-but nothing that wouldn't heal. I'm fine, she said voicelessly, offering the other a reassuring smile.

Sunstone nodded in confirmation,
I'm fine,
she repeated, spreading her wings out and moving them around to prove it. Sure, her shoulder ached quite a bit, but Sun was confident that she'd be able to go to Jade Mountain and still be in one piece.
Almost deflating, the she-dragon shrugged, No tribe...
Almost deflating, the she-dragon shrugged, No tribe...
Hmm.. That's new. Not many asked her about her crossbreed blood, they just noted it and moved on.
IceWing and Skywing/RainWing hybrid! My mother was IceWing, Sunstone explained, motioning to the IceWing like features of her body. From the particularly sharp white scales which were cold as an early morning day to her SkyWing/RainWing blood-the changing color of her undersides and wings as well as her huge wingspan and SkyWing burgundy horns and spikes. Her claws were as smooth as any other dragons, not ridged the way an IceWing's might, and her fangs with venom were long but only two thirds the size of a RainWing's.
By pointing out each feature of hers, Sunstone's initial appearance-which was soft, gentle, and shy-revealed harsh flaws, lake blue spines clashing with ruddy-colored horns, wings that could change from any span of colors and fangs that didn't quite match the rest of her considerably sharp (but still short) teeth.

Shuffling her talons, Sunstone looked around quietly,
You live here all your life?
Though, really, she was motioning to the more snow covered land behind Quilo.
What was it like.... Now, how was she to finish that question? What was it like... Being royalty? Being a full blooded IceWing? Living with other dragonets-presumably... Being free?..... Being part of-of something. There was so much Sun had missed out on and was dying to learn what it was like from a secondhand point of view.

That's it. What was it like in the... Ice Kingdom.
Though the hesitation was there, it wasn't as pronounced as it would've been had she been able to speak.
Glacier and Snowfall, huh... She remembered reading those names somewhere, though the exact scroll was lost in the millions of others the Talons of Peace had insisted she read-"for fun".

Listening, Sunstone tilted her head slightly-but at the sudden sounds of roaring (distant, yet close) she immediately jumped up. The parts of her that changed did, to a bright red-the color of warning.
((the roaring will just be some distant battle or something))
What was that? She mouthed frantically, her lips not moving as fast as her mind was at that moment.

Inching away, but hesitantly now, Sunstone was torn between helping the dragon who she already felt connected to and fleeing. Only meeting him a few minutes before, but quick to form bonds, Sun was in between choices.
Finally deciding to step away, she turned the red parts of her wings and undersides to a cold white that matched with her scales-though her horns continued to stick out. Crouching away, but ready-though not eager-to help if Quilo found himself in a situation.
No blood...
Sun whispered soundlessly, already transitioning to her usual golden yellow colors of sunset in her wings.
Am I allowed in Ice Kingdom? She questioned, remembering from the scrolls about how fiercely protective IceWings were of there land. Surely that hadn't changed...?

Stepping back and waiting for him to take the lead, Sunstone's nervous glances portrayed her uncertainty and fear of a couple of sounds of fighting.
It's fine Sun, just far away-nowhere near. It didn't help.

so lazy, sorry-I'll do better on my next post))
Leaping into the air to follow after, Sunstone's flying pattern wasn't particularly fast-certainly wouldn't win any races-but it was graceful and made it easy for her to maneuver the sudden drafts of cold air or the raining of snow.
For the first time ever, Sun felt a small nip of cold-though not too much. Because of her mother's side, the IceWing side, Sunstone was able to handle below freezing temperatures-but not as low as full blooded IceWings.

Dodging a sudden dump of snow, Sunstone's path quivered but she quickly righted herself to follow at Quilo's right haunch-though she strayed away so as to not be hit by those ridged claws.
Now, with each move, she felt a slight chill-not the biting freeze that an ordinary dragon might feel, but not the usual numbness and IceWing might in extreme colds.
It's so pretty here... Sunstone thought, marveling at the lovely white snow that formed slopes and rises on the ground below.

Mimicking the silvery color of the snow, Sunstone took many moments to note every color that could be seen in the white.
White.. Silver.... Blue.... So many colors, yet Sun enjoyed them all.

Staring at what could only be the Great Ice Wall, Sunstone stopped to hover in mid-air. While it was true she had 2/4 IceWing blood and only 1/4 of SkyWing and RainWing blood-respectively-that wall still made her nervous.
What if it doesn't recognize me as having enough IceWing origins..? The she-dragon wondered, wings going back into work to follow after Quilo.

Catching the Prince's gaze for a moment, a second even, Sunstone scrapped together enough confidence to fly like a zip ahead of him. Throwing herself toward the Wall, Sun prayed to anyone who was listening that she might make it.
A spear approached, fast, but it stopped before her-as she did. The ice spear hesitated, then shattered into flecks that barely touched the ground before disappearing into the air.

Turning to wait for Quilo, panic and relief warred on her descriptive face. Eager to see the Kingdom that the IceWings claimed, snow covered and beautiful as it was.
Scared, and glad She mouthed before turning back around to await Quilotoa's leading.

Swooping down low to just brush the ground and break through the crowds of dragons, the IceWings, crossbreeds, and IceWings' mates all turned to see Sunstone rise back up behind Quilotoa.
So much diversity... Sun had rarely met another crossbreed or a pair of dragons who were mated from opposite tribes, quite frankly, it was disquieting-wouldn't the war cause tension between couples? But from what she saw, all of them were so... Happy.....
Some calls were thrown out from below, directed at the Prince of course, as well as glances directed at the newcomer-Sunstone.

Following after taking a moment to be fascinated with the statues, Sunstone landed carefully and set her lake blue claws against the icy cold surface of the courtyard.
Feeling helpless against the splendor, small against the looming towers of ice-and yet, it was so beautiful. In a way you got used to over time, of course. At first glance, though, it was all harsh and dramatic with the sparkle of light to soften it-but upon closer inspection, it was much prettier than formerly assumed.

Stepping carefully, as though Sun feared that by walking too heavily might shatter or ruin all the beauty around her. Or that she might wake up in her cave at the Talons of Peace camp.
Lovely... Scary home. She mouthed quietly, her words now less connected and more just short cut off sentences that still described her feelings quite clearly.
By now, Sunstone had noticed the stares to be a bit more than curious and less than caring. Which intrigued her, they acted like they knew "what" she was but not who-for of course, they knew neither. Curious.

Picking up the pace so as to not get too far from the one thing keeping her "safe", Sunstone was slowly growing both charmed and at ease with the extravagant decorating of the palace.
Something wrong?
Sunstone mouthed, her red brown eyes studying Quilo and her ears flattening with worry.
Suddenly skittish, Sun was much like a dog-if it sensed a sudden change in atmosphere, it became on edge. Much like Sunstone in that moment.

By now, the cold temperature had already settled in. While it wasn't comfortable, Sunstone wasn't freezing either-just right in the middle, in the tiny grey area between good and freezing.
I'd hate to be a nuisance,
Sunstone replied easily, shaking out her wings which still had traces of snow from flying.
I will be fine, she went on, If other Tribe dragons can last here, then surely I can too.

Nodding in confirmation, she studied the lovely room with wide eyes.
Lovely, she "said", smiling brightly before entering the room. Careful not to knock into any of the fine things with her large SkyWing-like wings, she kept to the corner of the room and patiently waited to see what Quilotoa had come here to do.

(((What type of friendship would Quilo and Sun have??)))
Watching him with faint curiosity, Sunstone trotted over to the window-only to knock into an ice table with one of her large wings. Righting it quickly, she hid her embarrassment by turning her attention to the window. Staring out of it, Sun forgot her stumble as she was met with the wondrous view from Quilo's window.
((probably, they'd be close-but a weird friendship from the stranger's eye. OH, it would be James Madison and Thomas Jefferson [Hamilton reference]))
What was that? She mouthed a question, tilting her head to where she heard the scrapping of ice.

Nodding faintly, Sunstone turned to focus back out the window. The homes of IceWings and the sun shining down on it all was altogether a lovely sight. Especially seeing the IceWings up and about.
Nodding vigorously, Sunstone poked her snout out to take in a deep breath of the freezing air. It burned her lungs but the air just felt so much cleaner than anywhere else she'd been, the Sky Kingdom always had the smell of fire and smoke, the SeaWings' Kingdom had the salty fish smell, but here? Here it smelled like a cold winter day times ten, with a cleanness that could burn your nose.
I'd love to live here.. But I don't want to be in a Tribe that's fighting in a war.
This she stated with absolute certainty, indeed, she was a massive pacifist. Avoiding all things that even seemed war-related, even in the slightest sense.
It's the fact that the IceWings even are in the war that troubles me,
Sunstone mouthed faintly, the only thing she carried from the Talons of Peace was her distaste in war-while she didn't hate it like the Talons did, she wasn't exactly pleased with it either.
Sunstone, uncertainty warring on her features, made a snap decision.
I could stay here on my breaks, and on times I must go to school-I shall stay at Jade Mountain.. This is.. An okay plan? The question was there, but the confidence was wavering as she turned to face Quilotoa. The dragon she'd just met, but already saw as a friend.

((And in his love life, Sunstone will be one of the many dragons trying to tell him whose good and whose not, she can prove to be a bit different once you get to know her-not always shy))
As if it had a mind of its own, the muscles on her face worked into a smile that warred with Quilo's. A natural response, perhaps, but Sun's had a lot more joy in it. I do not have classes yet, I don't believe I've been assigned a clawmate either. So I may have a few days here before I must leave. Which would give her enough time to further grow used to the icy kingdom. Maybe I'll even live here permanently once the war ends and I leave Jade Mountain? This, too, was a question-for Sunstone had no idea what the future held. But that didn't stop her from forming plans.

I don't serve in the Palace nor am I royalty... I don't believe I'd be allowed, or wanted, here...
Sunstone reasoned, not wanting to make enemies of dragons she didn't even know. She would rather stay here knowing she wouldn't be given dirty looks or being whispered about-though she wasn't vain, not at all. But Sun preferred to remain passive and away from arguments or negative moods.
((btw, I'm just rolling w/ whatever I think my character would say. So if you want her to have a room or something else, it's your call and I'll reply how I think Sun might))
I'd happily stay anywhere, if I have the confidence I'll be welcome-not a nuisance as I may seem...
Catching and locking eyes with Quilo, Sunstone's eyes held brighter specks of crimson in the light, proving they weren't just plain brown.
Laughing, which wasn't a sound-so it was something she could do, Sunstone grinned and relaxed. With the knowledge that she was no longer a burden disappearing from her conscience, Sun allowed herself to fully be at ease. Even the cold had become something normal now, her own body working with what food she'd had earlier to keep her claws and wings-the only parts of her that were cold-warm.
Whatever is open,
she responded, changing her colors so that it was a shining gold-the color of crowns and coins against her cool blue/white overscales.
Because of your charm and rank,
Sunstone pointed out, though the smile remained and the gold on her undersides and wings still glowed with their own radiance.
Thank you, Quilo... Quiltoa? The prospect of getting to really get to know the dragonet who she believed would become a steadfast friend-even with his flirtatious tendencies.
((btw, on Sun's site it says she's 17-but that's in human years. In dragon years she's only 5.| 6 | {{6 repeating}} ))

Taking it,
Sunstone decided, nodding with feigned seriousness and solemnity. Hearing the squeals of a group of younger dragonets, Sun peered out to watch as a crowd of dragonets bounced around throwing snow balls at one another. But Sunstone, with her lack of knowledge of the outside world, leaned away with shock.
Won't that hurt them?
IceWings may be able to stand extreme temperatures and such, but she knew for a fact they weren't invincible.
I thought snow could be cold and hard...?
From what the Talons of Peace had told her, soft snow existed only in one's imagination and in scrolls. Rarely in real life... Why would they lie about something as small as snow..?
Watching as snow fell from the sky as heavily as rain, Sunstone poked her snout out quickly before leaning away-her nose and the end of her snout now dusted with snow.

((Sun is an animus, btw-but she has no idea, and neither did the Talons. I want her to discover her powers by accident or something))
Poking it, Sunstone drew the pile into her own claws. It began to melt, although it didn't melt immediately-the way it would've if, say, a MudWing were to hold it. Still, IceWings were better at holding snow without melting it into a pool of water at their feet.
Tossing it into the air, she smiled prominently as the flecks fell down. Shifting her wings to a pale blue background with flecks of white in the scales-which was actually the base scale color, if she weren't changing the color of the scales; they'd be white.

Standing up atop the snow, Sun studied her shoulder and frowned. Of course it was bruising, because life was unfair-even so, she was willing to walk if that was what it came to... Though, she'd prefer not to.
Looking around with shining brown eyes-hints of red here and there-the hybrid knew she was in a dangerous situation. Unfamiliar territory, caught in between two Kingdoms, and on unnamed land that could have anything from Scavengers to other rogue dragons. Still, she was confident she'd be fine-no one would hurt a wounded dragonet... Right?
