Susie Solar Bones is a unique novel that demands concentration. The structure has been touted as an entire novel in one sentence, however that is a bit of a stretch. It is more like a novel with no punctuation to mark the end of a sentence. In this way each passage runs on to the next, at times coherantly but at times in a more discrete manner. It is for this reason that the novel requires the reader's full attention, but it also meant for me that it was captivating and difficult to put down. It was a juggernaut of a reading experience! There is a spoiler on the back of the cover that I wish I had not read, and for that reason I don't really want to give a synopsis. Don't read the back cover and don't read a review! If you find stream of consciousness difficult or irksome to read then this one isn't for you. If you find novels that are not plot driven boring then this isn't for you. If you like literary novels that defy conventions and are utterly unique, that contain beautiful prose that you want to go over and over, with shades of Cormac McCarthy, then read Solar Bones, but expect it to be hard work that will be rewarded.

Tracy (tstan) | 1261 comments I listened to this one, and I’m glad I did. I probably would have put it down because of the run-on sentence and SOC style. That would have been a mistake, because it was a great book!

Anita Pomerantz | 9404 comments Thrilled, thrilled to see your high rating! Agree with everything you said. I didn't read the back cover - - sounds like that was a good thing, but now you have me curious what's back there??

Susie I’ll post later when I can hide the spoiler!
